Where do you grab some lunch?

Was there for work today and haven’t walked the tunnels in prob 7-8 years. What happened to the Rajun Cajun?

Looks like Covid hit the tunnels pretty hard. Lot of empty places. Grabbed some Which which today. Classic backup plan.

Treebeards is still there. Not sure if I got turned around and saw a different one. This was to go only. I remember one in the past that had a sit down area and Piccadilly type walk through order system.

I’ve lived in Houston for over six years now and had no idea Houston had a tunnel system until this thread

Came here to post this.

When I lived there, it was the best red beans, rice, and cornbread in the city.

I used to hit up Beck's Prime...not sure if it's still there. As others mentioned Treebeards was a regular for me.

Does Jamie still own the company?

I had a talk with him once about this. I said Jamie, you have the best red beans and rice in the city, why do you screw it up with onions and cheese?

He said, that’s what the patrons want. I got tired of them asking for it, so I think it’s stupid, but I complied.

I said, you do that on chili, not red beans.

He says, I know…

Ought to see it now. That whole area has been completely gutted and revitalized. It’s a massive food court now with no Beck’s Prime to be seen.

Thought the lease ran out on them in downtown. Our now former office mgmt people owned the building and that’s why they opened up off Bunker Hill

Treebeards in The Cloister is my favorite one. A couple decent Mediterranean places in the tunnels.

We frequented the mall/Houston Center. The variety was aplenty.

Treadbeards is goat for Tunnels. Doozoo’s dumplings are fire too

Eta: I’ll have to check but the Shipley’s at Main-ish and Fannin was GOAT. The dry cleaners on the same section would also shine your boots for $5.

Eta2: Simon’s cafe at Houston Center, holy smokes what I would give for a plate of lemon chicken rn

There is one like this under Enterprise Plaza on the west side of downtown. There’s a District 7 Grill under the Kinder Morgan building and Post Oak Grill between the District 7 and Treebeard’s. Those were my spots when I worked downtown and I believe all are still open. All are pretty close to the Which Wich I’m guessing you went to (unless they opened another one). It’s kind of a bitch and going from one side of the tunnels to the other (and really confusing if you don’t know where you’re at) so I’d stick to that area. District 7 is solid and has a mix of healthy stuff and tasty not healthy stuff
