Terry Kath, Chicago's epic guitarist did the same, stupid, thing.
ETA: No such thing as an "unloaded gun".

There was an incident several years ago in north Louisiana where some young people were hanging out, and one guy allegedly tried to prank a girl. He dropped the mag from a pistol, pointed it at her, and (surprise) killed her with the round his dumb arse didn’t realize was in the chamber.

These stories remind me of one that happened in Houston a few years back. It was two black dudes and a black chick parked in a car at Almeda and 288 in Houston. Apparently they were waiting on another party to show for a drug transaction. They started FaceTime streaming live singing some rap song and waving a hand gun around in the car. I think it was the chick who accidentally discharged and struck and killed the driver while live streaming. I obviously didn’t see it live but watched a subsequent repost of it. Bunch of total dumbasses. Not even teens full grown arse adults.

According to police, a man and woman were in a bedroom together when the man began pointing a gun at the woman’s head. She told him to stop. The man then removed the magazine from the firearm, pointed the gun at his own head, stated there were no bullets in the gun and pulled the trigger.

The original lead singer (Terry Kath) of the group “Chicago” pulled the same trick back in 1978.

His last words were reportedly: “Don't worry about it ... Look, the clip is not even in it." and finally "What do you think I'm gonna do? Blow my brains out?"

Always assume a round is chambered even if the magazine is removed.

And on top of that, never point it at anyone (including yourself) and pull the trigger.
