I'd calmly address your concerns with her instead of letting it fester and spoil your relationship.

Best case there's a reasonable explanation and they work towards repaying you. If not you gave them a chance and an any repercussions to the relationship are their fault. If nothing else you'll be helping her and your nephew by informing her the bank of bro won't be available next time tuition is due so they may have time to prepare responsibly.

Don't lend money unless you are a bank.....and if you lend money to family .....don't do it.

If you could afford to give your nephew 6K for tuition last year, consider it a gift and let it go. Trust me, you got off cheap.

Forget about it and not “loan” money again.

When it comes to loaning money you should go into it expecting to never get paid back.

Chalk this one up as a lesson.

I agree. Never, ever lend money to a relative. If you can afford to give it to them, fine. But, if you ever lend it to them Thanksgiving dinner around the table will never taste the same.

Learn your lesson about letting people borrow money and move along.

It cost you $6k to discern the character of your Sister & her husband.

Cheap lesson, move on with your life and don’t step on the same snek twice.

Life’s too short to hold a grudge for that level of offense.

And sounds like you could learn to think through things better too.

So there’s two lessons from this experience.

Good rule of thumb is dont lend money to family or friends you aren’t willing to part with for good

I understand this man’s situation. I lent a friend of mine 2k two years ago and she hasn’t paid me a dime back. She called like three months ago wanting another grand.

Never lend money to family... it causes amnesia.

When you lend money to people all you are doing is creating enemies. Most people that borrow have no intention of returning it. When you loan money might as well just consider it a gift.

That's the other thing. If someone doesn't pay me back, I don't really want to see them anymore. Obviously, this is a problem if it's your sister.
