Three floors of the Joseph S. Yenni building in Elmwood were temporarily evacuated and 11 people were taken to the hospital Thursday after a strong odor caused some employees to complain about difficulty breathing. It was not clear what the cause of the smell was, but Harris it seemed to be coming from the bathrooms while they were being cleaned. The Eastbank Consolidated Fire Department, Emergency Medical Services and hazardous materials personnel were en route to the parish government building just before noon, though Fire Director Joe Greco and Jefferson Parish spokesman Antwan Harris said the situation had been brought under control. Harris said at about 12:05 that everyone was back in the building.
