Kids throw up all the time…

My 2 year old had it last week. I had it this weekend. Now my 8 year old has it. It’s a stomach virus and I doubt either mine or my wife’s families want it.

Plus I don’t want to drive 2.5 hours in a car with a kid that is throwing up. You want to come clean up our car?

Where you at the house when he did throw up this morning ? That is one of those sounds that can wake you up in the dead of sleep when you hear it!

Then the cleanup..OOF . Hopefully you got to avoid that part.

You and I are a lot alike. My limit on family stuff is I guess lower than some people. Thing is, even if you genuinely like in-laws.. When it isn't your own close family, it sometimes feels like a performance. You have to behave as you would to a client or coworker or something.. overly polite, talkative, smile glued to your face, etc.

It isn't that you don't like them or anything. Can just be a lot when the whole day gets dedicated like that.

And I'm sure my SO feels the same way. My parents are laid back as hell and we are in Toledo Bend with them this Thanksgiving, but I'm sure there's a certain degree of "this isn't my close family" too for him.

My wife and I have discussed then a lot. I love my in-laws and she loves my family, but it is absolutely a full performance and is exhausting.

This drives me insane. It's the "I have nothing else to do so I will sit in this restaurant all day" routine, meanwhile, you're wasting your little bit of free time watching them dick around at a snail's pace.

I'm going to Thanksgiving with the Rissian side of my fiance's family where the menu will primarily consist of vodka and wine. Then I have a flight at 6:45am the next day

EXACTLY! They are two little old people with frick all to do, meanwhile Sunday is my reset day...I sit on my patio, smoke, pour and zone out to music before restarting another work week...I had to watch that slip away in the booth of a fricking outback while making mind numbing small talk with two people on a mission to waste the whole damn day there

PS..this venting has been welcomed lol

I think all the guys here can relate. When my GF and I first started dating I was up front with her and told her that weekends in the fall will always be "me days", I just wanna chill out, watch football and eat so don't go asking me to do all this shite. For the most part she's been pretty understanding but I always get little comments about it when she's in a bad mood. Any other time I really don't care what we do and we agreed that on weekends that aren't during football season she can be in sure of what we do but during football season don't be asking me to do stuff on weekends

Wasn't it you who had some incredible Thanksgiving family drama last year? I don't remember the story, but it was an epic read at the time.

One day they will be gone. Lost my BIL at age 53 suddenly in 2020 to a stroke while riding his bike.

I laws are late 70s now. My dad nearly died of pnumonioa a couple months back and is still recovering.

They will all be gone at some point. My greatest memories as a kid were of big family Thanksgivings. I have deep feelings of longing for that world again. For those who have gone on to be with the lord. My grandparents. Aunts and cousins I never see anymore.

They will all be gone sometime.

Enjoy this time and forget about the saints game. I assure you the saints don't give a shite about you.

I had it on Monday. 5am had to head to the bathroom and as I’m letting it go on one end, I feel it coming out the other end. Managed to flush quick enough to not have a face full of that while throwing up but I got it all over the wall which means I have to repaint.

Still feel like shite.

Is that the story about somebody showing up late with a stripper from Atlanta?

My wife's recovering addict (alcohol and drugs) Aunt is apparently no longer recovering from alcohol. She asked what she could bring, we of course said nothing, and she said she'll just bring a couple of bottles of wine. Add this to my MIL who is a borderline Baptist when it comes to alcohol and we might have some fireworks.
