But why bring them?

Because I like being around my dogs. Why does that bother you so much?

I'll go ahead and decline invites from you and the other dude preemptively. Problem solved.

Almost everyone I hang out with is also a veteran. No. They're not too nice to say something.

What makes you think my dogs do any of that?

I don't care about this, either.

My wife (no pics) has to work 7 days in a row so we did Thanksgiving this past weekend (dinner on Saturday nights) with her mom/dad and my mom. Everyone shows up on Friday and I grill burgers. I had just come off the golf course after 16 beers. My buddy (lives down the road) and his cousin come eat with us. Buddies ole lady (no pics) is at a cheer competition with his kids in BR so he has the house to himself. We are shite housed around 9pm and he suggests we go to his house that is kid and family free. I’m of course immediately available to go (I get to leave the house with my in-laws, mother, wife, and 3 kids) and go cut up for a bit (my mom chewed me out as I drunkenly smiled and walked out the door (she was pissed because I left her there to deal with the in-laws and kids) . My buddies house looked like a 80s frat house about two hours later. People just showing up randomly to drink and eat whatever we could put on his grill. We started a pool tournament and at one point I looked up and it was 2:30 in the morning. Told another neighbor that we needed to head home. I get home without incident. The next day I find out that my buddy stayed up until 6am then headed out around 10am Saturday and kept going. Only thing is, his wife has cameras all over the house (exterior) and knew we turned his house into a frat house the night before. Well his wife came home early (Saturday night) and he got home at 9:30 and proceeded to get boxed upside the head by his wife that night. He ended up sleeping upstairs at my house Sunday and
Monday and refuses to speak to his wife. Can’t wait for tomorrow (thanksgiving) because we all hang out together as a neighborhood after thanksgiving and drink and hang out watching football. Should be good for at least one more arse kicking for my buddy. Stay tuned…….yes we are in Mississippi, transplant from Louisiana.

One of them is. Should I leave the other at home because you think you know my family and friends better than I do?

I love my dogs but you’re an absolute weirdo if you can’t go anywhere without your dogs. You’ve got some serious mental issues that you need to deal with

You can't see the difference in the 2 scenarios:

1. Bringing a well trained service dog to an event

2. Bringing a pet to a social gathering and dismissing its disruptive behavior

I'll conceded your situation is far more complex than the generality I made for the sake of a board discussion...but if we're splitting hairs, yea...there's no real reason to bring your non-service dog to a Thanksgiving dinner

It's weird that you categorize dogs as either service dogs or disruptive.

Can’t wait for tomorrow when we all have to be together after our family thanksgiving meals.

They should be good and sauced up. To make it clear, I haven’t stayed up until 2:45am since college until the other night. It’s a rare occasion for me to be awake past midnight.

My buddy probably won’t show up, but in our group text with all the couples that live in the neighborhood, I’ve been keeping it going so everyone knows to come for drinks and football after family meals.

Well this just isn’t true.

I will add this. I have a 12 year old lab that has been my buddy forever. I am not anti dog. I will bring him sometimes for football watch parties etc to my friends houses. They all know him and I know they won’t object, but I always ask before bringing him still. I don’t just show up and say I’m here with my dog deal with it or frick you.

I mean, I don't either.

I just say no thanks if my dogs aren't welcome. It's not that big of a deal.

Y'all kinda sound like little bitches. Who give a shite who takes who to the "nicest restaurant in town"? You're a grown arse man. If you want to go to that restaurant, then fricking go. Why do you need your parents to take you there?? Are you poor? Your parents never get to see the son and his wife since they live out of town. They probably see you and your catty wife all the time. Quit keeping score and grow up.

Y’all certainly are taking this much more seriously than I am. My wife and I were laughing about it. As were my friends and I later this evening.

Lighten up Francis.

This is also a good place to put a PSA that no one wants you to bring your dog over to their house. No, he is not “the goodest boy.”

BIL drove in from out of state today. He showed up at our house to drop off his dog and then went to his hotel.

No request, no call, no heads up on even bringing the dog, much less it staying with us. BIL just did not want to pay to board the dog and decided he didn’t want it to stay in the hotel with him, so he made it our problem.

Wife is pissed. I’m pretty floored.
