1. Teachers complain
2. Are underpaid
3. Get many days off
4. Only work 9 months out of the year
5. I need new friends

Maybe your friends are the problem. I am a teacher and have been working all week. I have not complained. Most of us have been discussing how we are ready to get started next week. I have not seen one negative comment on fb, either.

Like I said maybe I need new friends.

There were other posters complaining about their teacher friends posting about the same thing.

Everyone complains about returning to work from vacation. In other industries, though, not everyone takes vacation at the same time. So, you don't see the concentration of complaining at one time like you do with teachers.

That's my theory at least.

That is true, but not everyone gets 60+ days off a year.

Every job complains, I am sure teachers and nurses don't complain. I could make a thread about plant operators complaining since I have a lot of those on my friends list.

Funny, these threads are never started by actual teachers.

Any teacher that post on this site know the OT is not a very receptive place for their plight.

The irony, someone who has more time off than teachers, complaining about teachers time off. Only arky fans.

My sister is a teacher and she was in her classroom on the very first day the school would let them return because she was so bored and ready to get back to teaching.

So maybe don't paint them all with one condescending brush? Like any profession, there are some that love their jobs and those that will bitch and complain about anything and everything.

I work 36-54 hours a week, go to school full-time and I post on tigerdroppings. I don't get 60+ days off from my job.

You?

My wife's a teacher and she has been in her classroom all week getting it ready for the start of the year. She has definitely enjoyed her time off being that we have a nine month old at home. That being said there's a big part of her that is looking forward to getting back into a routine and meeting her new students. She teaches pre-k mixed with special ed so most of her kids are innocent little sponges that love being at school. She is paid fairly and her only complaint is some of the ridiculous parents that she has to deal with.

Anyone who is not a teacher, and I'm not, but I'm married to one, would not understand anything about that profession. I would not want to do it, even for 6 weeks off in the summer.
