And to add to that, base salaries are only for bad teachers. If you are any good, they'll throw all kinds of stipends at you. My base is only 41k per year, but I make 55k with stipends and other bonuses.

Anyone else seeing the irony?

OP starts a thread about how much teachers complain about their job

but thread quickly evolves into all the non-teachers complaining about how good teachers have it compared to what they do for a living.

Na, I'm just the guy who's supposed to be running this lab, and instead I'm "crosstraining" a few students.

Do that 2-3x a month. Makes them better employees, and I get tons of time to learn spanish on my phone and harass the OT.

But seriously, state employee or federal?

I don't advertise my work on the OT I will say that it involves project management and construction.

Teachers have lost so much respect over the years. Half of you people claiming it's so easy would hate to deal with kids who don't care about you at all for 40k a year. Have fun!

For me, that would be a miserable career choice. I worked in the school system for a couple years and having the summer off couldn't make up for how much I hated the field.

Thank god for that.

Thought you interviewed me for a position a few months ago.

Where's an OT sleuth when you need one.

Not my fault... but how often do you come out of pocket for your job. Unless you own your own business of course.

Oh please, you can deduct 99% of it. And any non private student loans are waived after 10 years.

I sure hope this is just an attempt to be funny instead of a legit comparison.

It's a little bit of both. I understand the need for homework but complaining about working extra hours annoys me.

I work overtime all the time and don't get paid for it but I don't bitch about it over facebook.

Dude, aren't you in the military? We can't talk shite about too many people. If we aren't deployed, we get a shite load of days off.
