Just pointing this out but the baby boomers can’t afford to retire, are helping bankrupt the country, and live on welfare more than any other group of people ever. Yes social security and Medicare are welfare.

How about have a good year 2, year 3, build a great reputation at the company, get some direct reports, guide them to success in year 5,6,7, build a career at the company, and maybe you’ll be vp someday.

So after I saved the company tens to a few hundred thousand dollars (depending on how long you want to extrapolate that out), I just be ok with a CHANCE at a 3% raise, no promotion, and do that year after year with my fingers crossed? That my value to the company should have no correlation to my compensation?

You have either never worked in the corporate world, or you're the kind of guy that gets nowhere in life because you're constantly being taken advantage of

Dude chill. You can ask for raises whenever you want to your job, especially if you feel you deserve it. It’s never guaranteed just like your job. They pay you to make them money lol, that’s it. You are an investment and if you show them you can be a long term investment, like 25-30+ plus years, you will get what you want. But know if you go around demanding raises you will be seen as a short term investment. The way our world works, which I disagree with, is you better just be fricking thankful that you have a decent job and if you aren’t appreciative I’ll find someone who needs less money than you worse

Yes Jughead, you need to slow down. Companies pay for sustained excellence not flashes in the pan. You have so many issues that you need to resolve. First, stop judging and support your boss because he has gotten there and you haven’t. Do great work for four years and if they don’t see what they have you will avoid a job-hopper reputation. You took the job and were damn happy to have it but now you want to be king of all you can see, get real.

I did this myself for $69k. I hated life and wanted out. I set my timeline and worked to be a good teammate. My sixth year anny is next month and I now make almost double.

Wrong, frickstick. Im a manager at a fortune 5.

Your job is to deliver value. You delivered value.

Today, this very day, I saved my company at least a million dollars. That doesn’t mean I am entitled to a portion of that. Im salary and that’s my job.

It’s not commission.

Grow up. You seem like a smart guy. This thread didn’t go like you planned. Might just walk away now if you learned something.
