It’s my first time going. I’ve heard it is huge and can be kinda overwhelming. I only have about 4 hours today so what can I do in that time span?

Any other advice/tips would be greatly appreciated!

Quite a bit but if you really wanna get the full experience you need 2 good full days.

Buy tickets online before. Do not wait in line for tickets at the entrance

4 hours isn’t even a good start, maybe just watch the 4D movie the first time, other than that you’ll have to run through it and won’t get the experience you seek. I say this without even going since the last attraction or 2 opened. You could literally spend days in there.

I really want to see the airborne exhibit, gotta plan a weekend for me and the boy.

Do NOT rush and try to see it all. You will just waste four hours. Pick one section and enjoy that fully. Save the rest for later. If I only had four hours, I would buy tickets to the 4D movie and spend the time until that started in the building next door with all the planes.

Yeah it’s been a few years since I’ve been and there has been so much added since the last time is was there and we spent about 4 hours and we rushed through it.

I need to go back and check out all the new stuff. But 2 days still probably isn’t enough time.

Would go see the 4d movie then do the road to Berlin and road to Tokyo. Should give you a great overview. If you had more time you could get into the details of D-Day and the homefront

My grandfather was on PT Boats in WW2. He still had some parts and items from his actual boat and donated them to the museum as part of their project to build a PT Boat out of actual parts from ones that were in the war.

His picture is also hanging in the PT Boat section in the museum. He got to see the picture and the museum gave us a private tour and took us to where they were building the boat. Was an amazing day that I will never forget.

He ended up passing away a few months later at 91. I miss that crazy old man and his stories.

CSB...

But yeah you need more than 4 hours to experience it all.

I go a couple times a year and spend the entire day. And I still haven’t seen it all.

I love that place

Appreciate it fellas! Getting the tickets online was a game changer. Gonna try to concentrate on one theater today and catch the rest another time. Thanks again!

One of my greatest memories is watching my grandfather essentially turn into the tour guide at the WWII museum. He was pointing out paths on maps with his cane and yelling war stories. There was a large crowd listening, completely engaged in his words. Miss that old man.

How did NO land the WW2 museum anyways? I think it’s awesome but like everything else I would think it would be in DC. And is there a WW1 museum?

Started off as the D-day museum because it was were the Higgins boats were built. They just kept expanding from there. Now they’re a world class museum that has some of the best kept wwii artifacts in the country.

To be honest, if I had to pick one dream job it would be a curator at the wwii museum. I could nerd out there every day for the rest of my life and be the happiest mother fricker in the city

Yeah the WWI museum is in Kansas City, I think. I happened to read that a week or so ago.

My great grandfather was in the 101st airborne
He brought home and donated a German pistol

It rotates in and out of display. I was able to speak with a curator and actually hold the pistol
So cool

You’ll need 2 full days to really see everything
It’s an amazing place
Have fun

Plan to go back again another day, because you’ll want to see more.

I think it was because of Stephen Ambrose. WW2 nostalgia got big after Saving Private Ryan, but it exploded after Band of Brothers. Stephen Ambrose was a New Orleans guy.

Do not waste time on the submarine attraction on the ground floor of the Boeing Pavillion. Do the Boeing Pavillion and the 4D movie. Come back later to see the rest.

You can EASILY spend a day in each theater's exhibit alone. There is just a stunning amount of artifacts, stories, information, etc., that they just rotate in and out.

When they can, they have WWII veterans working there to help the crowds. Talk to them if one's there. They're pretty fricking awesome.
