Watching Fixer Upper right now and most of the homes built in the 1970s are fricking wild.

One house they just showed built in the 70s had an atrium in the foyer.

Living rooms seemed to be built below the rest of the house, popcorn ceilings, carpet everywhere, wood panel walls, fricked up paint schemes, etc.

We live in a 1975 house that my wife preferred over most of the new construction in our price range. I'll say this, it's far better built than just about anything that's not built custom today.

Some friends up north bought a home they’ve come to find out was known locally as a swinger hotspot. Lots of mirrors.

Down here, Andrew changed the zoning/building restrictions after Homestead got wiped out. My house is a fkn fortress.

Better hope they never get a black light on it.

My dad knew someone with a fish tank in the wall. Has a photo with it and everything.

To be clear: the original owners built the house with an actual fish tank in the wall for real fish.

Was the rape dungeon in the attic, secret room or basement?

~15-20 years from now home buyers are going to have to factor in how much it will cost to rip out that ugly arse dated and weathered to shite outdoor kitchen bullshite that has been so popular the last 5-10 years.

Our first house was a cookie cutter from a big national builder. It was a piece of shite. Cheap construction grade everything.

We have a older, mostly remodeled house that we bought from an older guy whose wife had recently passed away. It would have cost us double to build this house. Maintenance is slightly higher but nothing outrageous.

Architects have sucked, for the most part, since after WWII, or maybe before.

The 60’s and 70’s were especially bad.

Outdoor kitchen sounds great, until you realize the type of people that put them in don’t ever fricking cook outside.

And the green and yellow appliances that didn't match the already horrible wallpaper and the linoleum floors.

I bought something similar. 1940s bungalow that the previous owner who's dad was a contractor gutted to the studs and rebuilt. Custom woodwork everywhere. Got it for a steal because the owner got busted banging his side piece by his wife and had to sell with a quickness
