We had random testing for students in sports, not the whole student body.

Does this happen elsewhere?
Yes, but it wasn't really random at the High School I went to. They only drug tested the problem kids.

lol. im sorry your parents were too stupid to move to texas and get a house in a nice neighborhood with good public schools.

We had random testing. Catholic school.
The “random” tests would always involve like 5 known potheads and 1 Asian 4.0 honor student to make it seem random.

I'd have been expelled.

It’s not a problem if you aren’t using.

a private High School? this isnt anything new

I assume that's a private school? They can do what they want. I'm pretty sure my kid's school tests the HS kids. I don't particularly agree with it though.

they would have found a nice little cocktail in 17 year old winston cup at any given time

My old employer used to do random drug tests. About once per month the testing truck would be in the parking lot when I pulled in for work.
Out of 200+ folks, the same 20 or so were always “randomly selected “.
I had poked fun of the GM at a party one Saturday...nothing big...just friendly ribbing.
I was “randomly selected” the following Monday mornig.

“We believe now is the time to start this wellness initiative because of the growing threat of drugs and alcohol to adolescents,” Tyrrell said in a written statement. “Like all teenagers, our students face constant pressure to experiment with illegal substances.”
St. Xavier officials said the school is following the lead of local Catholic high schools and other Jesuit high schools

I’m clearly a poor public school grad. What a joke.

You didn’t hear that only white kids in Maga hats get chosen for a random drug test these days

This needs to start in middle school. Hair tests. We need to do something about these little weedheads they’re destroying our country.

That stuff pisses me off. Where I live, parents have to consent or they can't do it. People are so stupid for letting this happen to their kids. Any parents with kids doing drugs has already failed and this won't help.
They also bring dogs through the parking lots and hallways. Clear violation of 4th amendment rights. Nope, judges allow that ridiculous assault on rights. It is not the school's job to be handling this stuff. I dislike drugs as much as anyone but it's not worth sacrificing freedoms, which we clearly no longer have.
