Unless city police is willing to come in there and take my bullet proof glass away, they can't have it and might die trying. Tell them to shove it. How in the hell is getting rid of bullet proof glass going to cut down on loitering?

Come on Philadelphia citizens. You are one of our foundational centers of democracy and the Republic. Don't let these idiots do this dumb shite.

I don't understand the logic here. Are they saying if the cashiers weren't safe behind the counter they'd be running people off the corners? Plexiglass or not they're still going to be behind the counter most of the time. This sounds like something a crime boss (or evil land developer) would get the councilman he bought to push so he could take down a store owner that was in his way.

Why? Criminals are clearly their target constituency. There is no other reasonable conclusion that can be drawn.

So eventually everyone will be a criminal then they can subjugate in prison everyone and have a nation of slaves.

So is the glass being banned because of a public safety concern, or a crime reduction measure, or both? If it's supposed to reduce crime, I promise I want to hear how.

If I were buying a convenience store in an area affected by this ban, I'd order the bullet resistant glass cut to my measurements and install it myself. If asked by authorities about it, I'd ask them to prove that it's "bullet proof".

It will pass - yes it will, because crminals need to be free to criminal

then a shop owner who was forced to get rid of his glass will die. - yes unfortunately this is an almost certainty

And, the law will switch back. - this is where you are wrong. dims never learn from their mistakes, they only double down on it and make things worse so they will say they caused their own deaths because they pissed people off by having the barriers in the first place.

This is maybe the most ridiculous thing I have ever read in my life.

And I spend about 75% of my weekdays on the OT. So that is saying a lot.

bulletproof glass

I'm being pedantic, but it's bullet-resistant glass.

Most of the stuff you see in convenience stores isn't even level-1 BR glass(level 1 stops a 9 mm). It's just thicker acrylic meant to give the perception of security. Actual BR glass is stupid expensive. You're talking at least a 50x multiplier on level 1 material cost when compared to standard glass and acrylic. For example, I priced a 24x36 BR window the other day. Regular glass in the opening would have cost the customer $28 and BR glass would have been $2000. I price several convenience stores a year and they routinely run $20k or so and none of them end up doing it.

Back to Philly's law, that's dumb as shite.

BR glass is UL stamped, so it'd be pretty easy to prove.

Bass said the bulletproof glass and partitions at some of these businesses are a concern of the city’s health department, as if a customer is choking or having an allergic reaction, a barrier should not stand in the way of safety. She also addressed the security concerns. “Thousands of businesses operate in the same neighborhoods with no Plexiglass,” she told Fox News, mentioning stores like Rite-Aid and barber shops. “I’ve never been to a bar with Plexiglass.”

I am guessing the actual logic is that these stores are operating as crime ridden bars and feel safe because they have the glass. Take away the glass and it looks a lot more risky to operating these pseudo-legal bars.
