I don't understand the logic here. Are they saying if the cashiers weren't safe behind the counter they'd be running people off the corners? Plexiglass or not they're still going to be behind the counter most of the time. This sounds like something a crime boss (or evil land developer) would get the councilman he bought to push so he could take down a store owner that was in his way.

And, the law will switch back. - this is where you are wrong. dims never learn from their mistakes, they only double down on it and make things worse so they will say they caused their own deaths because they pissed people off by having the barriers in the first place.

This is maybe the most ridiculous thing I have ever read in my life.

Most of the stuff you see in convenience stores isn't even level-1 BR glass(level 1 stops a 9 mm). It's just thicker acrylic meant to give the perception of security. Actual BR glass is stupid expensive. You're talking at least a 50x multiplier on level 1 material cost when compared to standard glass and acrylic. For example, I priced a 24x36 BR window the other day. Regular glass in the opening would have cost the customer $28 and BR glass would have been $2000. I price several convenience stores a year and they routinely run $20k or so and none of them end up doing it.

Back to Philly's law, that's dumb as shite.
