Ranked LSU 188
Tulane was ranked as 2nd worst in state only ahead of ULL
seems like salary impact and the cost/benefit ratio is why LSU ranked so high and more prestigious schools were so low
Salary impact (33%): This measures the extent to which a college boosts its graduates’ salaries beyond what they would be expected to earn regardless of which college they attended. We used statistical modeling to estimate what we would expect the median earnings of a college’s graduates to be on the basis of the exam results of its students prior to attending the college and the cost of living in the state in which the college is based. We then scored the college on its performance against that estimate. These scores were then combined with scores for raw graduate salaries to factor in absolute performance alongside performance relative to our estimates. Our analysis for this metric used research on this topic by the policy-research think tank the Brookings Institution as a guide.

Tulane is ranked behind LSU?

I am going to get a big foam finger with 188 on it to wear to all the rival football stadiums in states where the elected politicians have historically been a little more judicious when they peel a few $$$ from the state coffers.

A college degree nowadays is almost meaningless unless you choose a speciality.

Did they finally start ranking Tech with the Arkansas schools?

In terms of cost and number of programs, I can see why.
But if we’re speaking purely from an academic performance standpoint, Tulane is miles ahead of every SEC school besides Vanderbilt and it’s not even close.

Tulane cost like $80k a year to attend.

LSU grads are ranked something like 4th in the SEC in average salary over their careers. Granted, this data is 5 years old, but I can't imagine it's changed much. Tulane is very expensive so I guess LSU is seen as a better value for the money.
quote:
LSU ranked fourth in the SEC in early-career earnings for graduates with a bachelor's degree with an average $54,800 yearly salary. Of the 50 public flagship universities in the nation, LSU ranked 21st in early-career earnings and 16th in middle-career earnings.

I love Tulane. I think it is a great school and institution, a very bright student body from all over the country. Graduate from Tulane and you will likely have friends in most major job markets 5-10 years after graduation.
But that tuition and cost to attend is truly outrageous and difficult to defend.

If Tech is ranked below most of those schools then the list is fricked

I wonder how large the check from LSU to WSJ was

My senior has been visiting colleges in-state and out-of-state. If the tours are any indicator of current performance, LSU would be way lower on this list.

Florida and Texas are just as good as Tulane. UGA probably isn’t too far away as well.

Yep. A degree has to be a means to professional school or a direct path to a job
Most college degrees arent that.
