Really looking for an affordable panda style watch, diver or non. Has anyone heard of Dryden watches out of KS, USA? Saw them on Instagram yesterday and it looks pretty good but a new company so no clue on the quality. Quartz movement makes it affordable

You don't want a wrist watch, man.

Be a gentleman and get a pocket watch, a monocle, and top hat.

Watches are stupid. If I need to know what time it is, I look at my phone.

What do you consider affordable?

ETA: wasn't familiar with Dryden, just read up on them. Seems like a cool design, but I'm not a fan of chrono-divers, just odd to me. It's also 42mm, so it's going to wear fairly large.

It's a quartz, which is a deal breaker for some, but seems like a decent Seiko movement.

There are plenty of options in the $400 range.

Skip the fly by night quartz-movement micro brands and stick with known quality - Seiko, Orient, Citizen. The WV0041TX is a nice panda style, solar powered and should run for 20 or so years on the included battery. Buy a band you like that fits your style and you're good to go.

Here's a nice one. Quite affordable, as well.

Orient is the best bang for your buck at that price point. I love my Seiko Pepsi as my everyday watch, and maybe I got a lemon, but I have to wind that fricker every morning. It’s like 8 hours off after only being off my wrist for 12 hours or so. My Orients all go a few days without having to be shaken and rewound.

Their Bambino collection is nice looking and “dressy” for the price. I got a dark blue face and put a nice Italian stitched band on it, and it looks great. Less than $200 total.

I also like the Ray and Mako series for everyday beaters.

I’m no watch snob by any means, but unless it’s a cheap Timex with a nice NATO strap (Broke or Gaston, I think post pics of this setup every once in a while), quartz is a non-starter for me.

Thanks. By affordable I mean not an auto, so sub $500. I’ve looked at the Orient Neo70 a good bit but just wanted to see if there’s anything else out there I may be interested in.

It's acceptable to check your watch in a business meeting. Looking at your phone, not so much.

Naturally, I’ve looked at a bunch of Seiko. Here’s my newish Seiko Sumurai with replacement bezel and Barton band. Nothing will beat this for me, I just want another different style in my watch roll.

Something north of $17 million. Chump change for even the most average of OT posters, right?
