Do you think science will ever get to a level that it could accurately predict natural death?
Would you want to know?
Not counting the risk that you could still die from an accident, would you want to know what is waiting in your DNA waiting to do you in?

If I know, then the life insurance company definitely knows. It would ruin the industry

Frick that. You couldnt enjoy life at all.

Dont really think it would be possible anyway, too many variables over the long term.

Sure... why not? I'd know exactly when I get to stop busting my arse and start coasting towards the inevitable. Otherwise I will probably buy the farm driving to the office... but hopefully while in the office to teach them a lesson.

You’d wanna live day in and day out just marking down the days till you die? No thank you.

For real? How does that effect your day to day life?

I was thinking about my grandma this morning.
She’s been gone like 6 years, but she worked so hard her whole life, never took medicine, taking care of everyone, seemed like she was gonna outlive most of us, and then when she was in her early 80’s she got brain cancer, and they told her she was too old to fight it.
Idk, I guess the thought of that hanging around in your DNA your whole life waiting to do you in scares me some.

Not for individuals, no. For large datasets, were close to already being there. I think there's enough entropy involved in day to day life that genetics cannot predict natural death. Twin studies proved this long ago.

Not really but if somebody gave me the choice to live to 100, I'd take it right now.

Well that's pretty much established with the "Average Life Expectancy" of various countries being established.

Nah, takes the fun out of it.

Pretty sure it's going to be a heart issue since my dad died of a massive heart attack at 35 and only one of his 5 brothers lived to see age 60, all dying of heart related issues.

I'm far ahead of the curve being 66.

Absolutely I would want to know.

I'd be able to truly live a full life with the time I had. I'd feel completely resolved to my fate.

No because there are too many variables within your own choice that could either shorten or prolong your life.

Things like work related stress can't be predicted through DNA. They also don't know if you're going to either improve or worsen your habits that are critical to your health.

It's also not possible to accurately predict advancements in medical technology or nutritional knowledge.

Essentially what you're suggesting isn't possible and even as a hypothetical doesn't make much sense.

Hell yes. Provided my wife and I are the only ones to know. I’d buy more life insurance and stop funding my 401k. I’d take more time off and take my family to see more of the world. If I’m gonna live until 80, I’ll just keep doing what I’m doing,

And why would this make a difference? You plan on being alert and working your last day?

Yeah, I'd treat it like a GPS and try to beat the time
