You're living pretty comfortably on $160k anywhere in the country, unless you are shitty at managing finances.

Restaurant jobs have improved over the years. I rarely work over 55 hours, have Cadillac insurance, and am compensated very well. That being said, there are still restaurants that grind their employees to the bone

not really, not going to starve, but that's not "living comfortably" money in a lot of places in the US

It actually does. This board is stupid to think you can't live comfortably on 160K

I’m not above any job to put food on my family’s table. So, yes I’ll take this job if I had to.

When I was in my 20's I had a roommate that managed for Wendy's. He had to stay an assistant manager, who did most of his manager's work, for a couple of years, before getting his own store. I think his manager had to approve the move, and she didn't want to lose him.

He, as well as anything he wore to work, smelled like onions. I didn't notice he'd left clothes in the dryer once, and my stuff all smelled like onions.

Even after he had his own store, he went in a lot at 3pm and got home after they had cleaned, around 1 or 2 am. When I'd get up at 6 am, he'd be up watching TV. Me getting up was his que to go to bed.

When he worked days, he'd be gone when I got up at 6 am, and get home around 3pm. On those days he'd call to see if I wanted him to bring home food for dinner. If I said no, he'd bring a frosty home anyway and leave it in the frig.

He didn't really bring any work home.

I read the other day that taco bell managers can make north of 100K. The answer is yes.

Absolutely I would. Hell, I'd even manage a Popeyes and I wouldn't need 160k a year.

On these 2 conditions:

I'm not going to have to apologize to the public for hiring people that I deem competent for the job

I don't have to abide by affirmative action or meet some racial quota.

Think Chick fi la. That's the only way I take the job.

That's the problem at many places. You hire what you can get because you aren't going to be able to pay them what is needed to get good help.

Canes and Chick-fil-A must pay a little more than most other fast food places around here. I've never had a trashy, rude employee at either of those places in BR.

Sure. Why not, if you enjoy it and fits your core competencies. Good, honest , high energy work.

I know a Walmart manager that was knocking out $250,000 a year 20 years ago. Most of it in bonus.

Some jobs will surprise you.

I would rather pick up garbage for a living vs being manager at any of the Taco Bells, Popeyes, or Burger Kings around here
