When thinking of six-figure salaries, flipping burgers may not come to mind. But In-N-Out, the cult favorite fast food chain, sees its store managers earning over $160,000 on average.

In-N-Out workers can start at $13 an hour (minimum wage is $11 for California's larger companies), and work their way up to that $160,000-ish salary without a college degree.

Before I opened this, I was going to say that In-N-Out pays well.

For 160k I would. I'd move to some nice town where I'd get to deal with college kids rather than the idiots that work in fast food around here.

I don't think you could pay me enough to ever manage a fast food place.

For that price? frick yes. For $30k-40k? frick no. You deal with the lowest on the scale between employees and customers. You are basically an adult babysitter.

When I went to In-N-Out, that place was a zoo so probably not there.

But the Taco Bell close to me looks pretty dead most of the time I pass by it so how hard could managing that place possibly be?

Only if it was my absolute last resort. I would probably take that job right before I became a used car salesman to be honest. 30 years ago you could make 45K being the manager of Whataburger. But those cats had to work 70+ hours a week on salary to get that.

I bet in and out gets at least 60 hours a week out of their store managers

My ex was GM of a pizza place in a college town. It was more trouble than it was worth, imo.

Probably sucks a lot more nowadays.

Not only are there a lot more people to deal with but everything is networked and accounted for so you probably can't just swipe a burger, fries and drink like you could in the 80's and 90's.
