I think that this is wholly logical and right about where I am with it. Motorola Razr or Nokia bricks until driving age.

13 probably needs to be bumped up. I still think US needs better privacy protections, and op in to online info kept & tracked should be a minimum part of that. You probably should be of a legally responsible age to opt in if ever implemented, but opt out already allows companies to make a bunch of assumptions about adults which is even worse when it’s kids.

Not accurate.

Parents that let the kids download whatever they want from the app store are the problem.

Parents that try aren’t supported by Big Left Tech, and thanks to Wuhan devices and online access became a requirement.

Apple Screentime has been so buggy it may be one thing I would actually support a class action lawsuit. It’s constantly “hacked” or bypassed by kids. Apple also refuses to add some settings behind restrictions like turning off DNS profiles or other ways to bypass dns restrictions. Obviously limited adult websites restriction has taken on a whole new meaning more recently especially with Big Left Tech.

I used it on my own devices for the old restrictions settings to lock accounts and some privacy settings. Over summer it kept just turning off and resetting to default. Even before it could happen too often with syncing using iCloud and even kids profiles for just one device as syncing is used to allow parents devices to change settings or add time, but mine was just on device and didn’t connect online and still reset. Sometimes when accounts locked I could still access them. It’s shite, and Just makes it easier for kids to use other accounts for apps & change settings. It also make it difficult to say a bypass is always the kid not the crappy software.

When they added native DNS encryption they didn’t make exceptions clear including ways apps can use other or that if you don’t install a profile and use the default automatic setting an app could choose their own dns encryption. Apps can still use IP addresses. App Privacy Report at least shows me these IP requests by FB and VPN type apps almost in a giving me the finger way. App Privacy Report is lacking as well and isn’t meshed into ScreenTime or able to be restricted from turning off.

If I block a website under devices restrictions (now under screentime & this setting for browsers only) the onion browser would follow under browser app rules even though it can bypasses DNS, but just blocking website under DNS blocked nothing in onion browser. Capabilities are there to actually block website access at device level versus using DNS request process, but they don’t expand it much less improve it. They also allow too many exceptions to bypass and make it too easy to just change DNS settings to automatic.

Once I had to contact Apple to fix my kids Apple Cash family, and the representative asked to speak to my kid to get approval to discuss issue with me. I told the rep I am paying for all of it including phone and service in my name and created the Apple ID. My kid did what I instructed to just get situation fixed & avoid wasting time with someone enforcing policy above their heads, but it was obvious back then big tech wanted to empower the bypassing of parents.

I’m for more attentive and parenting parents and less government control.

That is the job of parents. Back in my day, we had one phone in the house with the longest cord so you could walk from room to room. That's all these kids need.

ALL of which has been going on since before the internet, and will continue regardless, and that’s because it’s not the technology that’s broken. It’s the people, and passing more legislation may make you feel like you’re doing something, it’s just more symbolism over substance, and all it really does is hand over more power and control over your life.

Why? Then your mom can follow the cord and find you and yell at you to get off the phone because you been on there too long. Also, let's go back to AOL and the long arse time it took to get signed on. I think that would cut down on browsing time if we had to sit and wait a minute or two.

I would support laws that shut down social media outlets that violate 1st amendment rights. So, all of them. Including this one.

No. I want less government. I'll handle this with my kids myself.

I would support banning all social media and stomping out any attempt to bring it back.

Age restrictions don't really count here. 14 year olds don't have the same rights

Overarching laws? No
Laws that require manufacturers/providers to give the option to parents to limit usage and restrict apps? Absolutely.

Don't want more government, but I wouldn't turn down the opportunity to make the decision for myself if it was available.

Could you explain specifically how this site violates people's 1A rights?
