My kid's iPad is to him as my encyclopedia set was to me at the same age. The utility of this technology when its use is properly superviaed far exceeds any do-gooders reasons for saying my kid can't have it.

I agree with the thought that this isn’t the place for fed gov involvement.
The people suggesting we should dial back the internet, telephones or cell phones are nonsensical and hypocritical.
I don’t think keeping kids away from phones is as easy as people are suggesting. They still go to school and have friends. It only takes one kid at school with disinterested parents for your kid to see something they shouldn’t.
I would support local school boards or even state governments enacting measures to limit outside electronic usage more than a federal law

Small government absolutists often conflate limitations on adults with reasonable limitations on children. It is easy to say no to any limitations or regulations it is difficult to design reasonable limitations/regulations so many just take the easy route.
A lot of these same folks are quite alright with the existing limitations and protections for children that are backed by federal or state law. They'd be the some of the first to respond with absolute vitriol to a similar thread posing the question of, say, doing away laws governing age of consent.

Laws? No. It's just not enforceable.
Better parenting? Yes.

Only if the law was enacted by the parents.....KEEP THE GOVERNMENT OUT OF OUR LIVES

No the government is not the social police of the country. The fricking parents need to actually do their fricking job and not rely on schools, laws, and SJWing people to death to do it for them.
