Spent too much time in both. I’m going San Antonio all day.

SA has been a big city for a long time. Nothing new there.

I grew up in San Antonio and I went to Alamo heights schools. Only a small part of the district is in the city of Alamo heights.

Never been to San Antonio, but I can pretty safely choose Tyler. I am more of an east Texas kind of guy!

Tyler is somewhere between Dallas and Shreveport. Literally and figuratively.

A real Sophie’s choice…both places suck…San Antonio because the upside is proximity to the Hill Country.

SA, but years ago I wanted to move to Tyler. But then I found out it had a huge gangbanger problem, just behind Little Rock. So I stayed in Dallas where it's safe. I think the gang thing has declined there but not sure. But I had. Friend that moved to Tyler and he said the people are very cliquish and snooty.

We aren't. Well, maybe, maybe just a little bit. I don't pay any attention to them.

Tyler. I like San Antonio; just too big for me.

Even though I have an immense love of Mexican food and Latinas, I’d have to choose Tyler over San Antonio.

I spent the night and half a day in Tyler a couple of weeks ago and I was really impressed. I’m more of a small town/rural guy, but I could see myself living on the outskirts of Tyler.

Traffic in San Antonio sucks and I’d prefer my truck not to get stolen.

2 different worlds....2 different cultures. Food is different, people are different and weather and landscape is too. It was hard for us to get used to not having rain. ( Years of drought).

Tyler. Big enough city to not feel isolated but still has a good East Texas vibe.

Tyler metro which includes Whitehouse, Bullard, Flint, Gresham and Chapel Hill is nearing 245,000 people. Small city but not a town. There are two big arsed hospitals and a medical school. So it used to be an oil town but can be considered the East Texas regional medical center now. But as I drive around, I don't know what the rest of those people do for a living.

All of Texas sucks in the summer. I'm days away from escaping to Wisconsin and then Norway and back to Wisconsin. I'll get back in mid September and hope the weather changes slightly.

San Antonio.

but I still feel like some here are overrating the Mexican food in SA. I’ve never been overly impressed with it in comparison to other places in Houston, Austin, Dallas, etc.

I find it very hard to believe Tyler has a worse gang problem than Dallas…

I love San Antonio but I’m with you on the traffic part. Alamo heights is great but this is not the same city I grew up in, which is why I said it is morphing into a big city. When I turned 21, which wasn’t all that long ago, the city honestly felt much smaller than it does now. Even moreso when I was a kid.

I actually wish I was younger now so I could enjoy the new San Antonio. Ah well.
