The traditional really notorious places had always been south of downtown (even though it’s all brand new condos now I still get the creeps), orange mound, Binghamton, Whitehaven and South Memphis.

Although it is certainly not a great place, Whitehaven doesn’t seem that bad anymore. It was the nicest suburb in America in the 60s so all the homes are well built. I feel like it’s become more of a middle class black community.

Orange Mound is even coming around. It was outright scary for the longest time but there’s a bunch of young white kids moving out there.

South Memphis is just as bad as ever, it was the OG Memphis ghetto and I think always will be.

Today, Frazier and Hickory Hill are the worst. It is mind boggling how quickly Hickory Hill went to hell, it was the new nice suburb when I was a kid and it didn’t even take 10 years for it to go to shite. Frazier is sketch AF.

And then there’s Lamar Ave, which is kind of awe inspiring to me because once you cross the state line at Olive Branch it is uninterrupted ghetto for 20+ miles. Areas short distance either side of the road are decent in some parts, but the street itself is as ghetto as it gets
