Can attest.
My mom is in Braselton (Hall portion) and it is a great area. Really good schools. Beautiful scenery with the rolling hills and the Blue Ridge in the distance.

Carroll County is beautiful.

Louisiana may be a shithole, but I’d take it every day of the week over ATL
You could not pay me to live there

Charlotte area is pretty great overall for quality of life and raising a family.
Best place I’ve lived

I could make best-case arguments for each. But bleh. Davidson, NC on Lake Norman for example. Does that count?

I lived in Atlanta for 15 years and now live in Charlotte. I've also done some business in Nashville, but can't speak as knowledgeably on what the day to day is like.
What would be helpful is to know about what you care about: do you have kids, do you eat out at nice restaurants, do you do a lot of outdoor activities, etc.
Atlanta:
For Atlanta, living intown vs. living in Roswell or Alpharetta are entirely different things. I lived intown for all 15 years intown (think Midtown, Inman Park, Buckhead) , so can speak best to that.
Atlanta is a much bigger city (in terms of urban feel) than the other two. Best restaurants in the southeast intown. Strongest arts scene in the southeast. Airport with direct flights anywhere (but it is on the south side of town so if you live in the northern suburbs can be quite a hike). Very strong private schools and some top tier higher education in GA Tech and Emory. World class performers come to Atlanta regardless what type of music you are into.
Good hiking and outdoor activities are about an hours drive out (so not as great as the other two options). Public schools intown are not great, but the northern suburbs have some strong public schools. Crime is a real thing in Atlanta intown, but some nicer neighborhoods are quite safe. Homelessness is a major issue in downtown, but visibile in Midtown and Buckhead as well. Overall if you like options in where to, what to eat, what to see - Atlanta is your best bet. If I was 22 I would go back in a second.
Charlotte - Feels much smaller than Atlanta. Charlotte is like Atlanta circa 1995. A ton of growth. A little cheaper than Atlanta from a cost of living standpoint. Some decent restaurants, but nothing world class. Public schools intown are hit or miss and there are really only 3 noteworthy private schools. More family friendly (everywhere feels kid friendly). Feels safer without as much visible homelessness. Several lakes right on the edge of Charlotte (Wiley and Norman) give lots of outdoor opportunities. Overall - great place for families, just not as big of a national draw as Atlanta.
Anything specific you want to know?

Probably Charlotte. Nashville is nice but is too uppity for me. I like Atlanta too but it's nice in only certain pockets.
Charlotte has a good white collar job market for it's size due to the finance industry. There's some decent school districts in the area. You're also not to far away from from Appalachia or the coast. The airport is a hub for American airlines and you can get to pretty much anywhere.

Atlanta is the same. Both about an hour from the mountains and 3-4 hours from the coast.
All 3 cities are close to the mountains. Nashville closer than the other 2. That town is hilly as frick.

Fair enough.
Sorry you had a bad experience here. It really is a great city.
