Black bears still kill a bunch of people. Other bears are more dangerous but black bears are much more numerous and they kill a bunch of people.
I looked up bear deaths in the US a few weeks ago just because and Black bearable have killed more people than Brown bears and way more than polar bears

There have only been 25 people killed by all bear types in the last 20 years, a fatality rate that has remained pretty constant all the way back to the late 1800s. Since 1890 black and brown bears have only killed 131 people in North America. Maybe that's a "bunch", but snakebite which is pretty uncommon kills 5 times as many.

I think the rates are higher for attacks by a bit but I can’t remember off the top of my head so let’s assume your exactly right. That’s still a lot for these types of attacks. People tend to avoid wildlife when they can. This continues to suggest s lethality with wildlife that cannot be ignored

I looked up bear deaths a few weeks ago too.
The ones that jumped out the most were the polar bear deaths. Few and far between but they were the most vicious.
One of them was walking down main street of some small town in Alaska and just grabbed a dude and dragged him to the forest.
