It's a good place to raise a family. SLC, moss bluff, and Westlake still have good public schools and sulphur is sorry good too.

SLC is nice but traffic can be bad.

If I wasnt from here and didn't have funnily, I wouldn't want to be here if young and single as there as places when more to do. But there are also much worse places.

If you are an engineer, hard to beat this area, really hard. Other white collar jobs have kind of inflated salaries to because of the plant work.

Construction or blue collar it's a no brainier place to live.

Also has a great restaurant scene and casinos give decent night life. Plenty of festivals, great hunting and fishing. Great outdoors period. 2 hours to Houston and LSU, 3 from Nola.

Once traffic is better, it will be one of the best places on LA to live (not saying much I know). It's crazy how good the job market is right now.

Lake Charles has its flaws, but it always had potential to be one of the coolest places in Louisiana. I'm glad to see it starting to happen.

LC was a mess after the oil crash in the 80's. The casinos completely transformed the town and the LNG industry has really boosted the economy for the city even more. It may not be the most desirable place to live bit it offers affordable living and a strong job market.

I love Lake Charles and we have a lot of family there. My time at Barbe was the best years of my life. We would move back if the money was good for the wife and I. Texas feel but Louisiana culture, if that makes sense. We’re 4.5 hours away but every time we’re home, it feels like home. Because it is home.

Ma famille.

Traffic the obvious issue, but knowing the right roads to take gets you A to B quicker than a bigger city. Takes me 12 minutes to get between McNeese parking garage and Graywoood at 8a, 5p, doesn’t matter. Bridge and access to Sallier by the port will help, but I can’t make sense of ripping Lake Street up between Country Club and McNeese and not putting fricking left turning lanes at intersections but putting a right turning lane. People here still can’t navigate roundabouts with blinkers or without coming to a complete stop at yield sign. Texting drivers baaaaaaad here.

It’ll never happen, but the lakefront could be such a good spot if developed appropriately. Restaurant scene and community events growing. Nothing extraordinary but you can find what you want. Most out-of-towers have their heads up their asses about LCH.

Can’t even count how many nights ended there after leaving OB’s or Cowboys.

Navigating that slanted arse floor to eat sausage and crackers was tricky... but, I’m sure being extremely drunk every time I went in there was the real problem

I grew up in LC then lived in Houma and after Lafayette. If you enjoy fishing and hunting then Houma and LC offer the real sportsman paradise displayed on the state license plates. I'll be in Cameron parish tomorrow crabbing with family and friends and I will enjoy evwry second of the experience.

"Texas feel and Louisiana culture" makes sense and is a good description with the native Cajuns, Sicilian Families that settled in North Lake Charles, the engineers mostly from the mid-west, and Texans only thirty miles away.

"Wealth divided, still one-sided" is not as applicable as it was when I was a young man.

Would move there in a heart beat. Just don’t want to move farther away from the folks as they are getting up there.

I just moved to Lake Chuck. It isn't bad at all. I have noticed that the people are a little different but it has everything you would need. Great golf like the OP mentioned.

I guess you’ve probably leaned up against the bar at the Neighborhood Bar too?
