Me leaving my kids with a babysitter requires a lot of things that I need to know about them and/or trust about them. Them being LGB isn't one of them.

ETA: Im taking the T out of there...because being gay is one thing, but thinking you're a different gender means there is something flawed about your decision making.

LGBT is a redundant term because Lesbians are also Gay, which is covered under the “G” so there’s no reason for the L in that little acronym.

Just one thing that annoys me

I would also like to hookup all the dads in here to a lie detector saying they would be ok with a gay male babysitter watching their kids to see if they are actually telling the truth

my wife's uncle and her boss, both gay dudes, have watched my daughter in some capacity

This is a pretty common bias people have. I can admit that I have the same bias. Just more comfortable leaving kids with female sitter even if qualifications are the same. You don't really see a lot of male sitters which causes me even more doubt when I do see one.
It's more of just in general also. Nobody wants to have a gay son

Nope. I wouldn't trust my kids with someone who can't distinguish right from wrong.

No. Unless it was a hot lesbian babysitter and I had a son.

I bet it's not completely irrational. There is probably some science to back you up about female v male nurturing, responsibility, perversion, sexuality, etc. It's not like like a male babysitter can't be good, but I think our minds kind of naturally factor in some stuff that science would probably back up. Might not be enough that we should be making decisions because of it, but we are going to be hypersensitive when it comes to leaving our kids with someone.

Yea, unless it's a son from a family friend or something, not happening. I too understand that's irrational, and I'm ok with that.

just a female that happens to be a lesbian? Sure why not, as long as they're qualified.

A full on trans-queer that identifies as something new whenever the wind blows? Absolutely not, because they are mentally unstable.

This is also my answer.

If I knew said gay dude (or straight even) well, that's different. For instance my wife and SIL are very close with a gay couple, and i've gotten to know them over the years. I'd be fine with one of them watching my kids.

But if it was like an ad or something of that nature, I would instantly wonder why a male, gay or straight, is trying to break into the booming business of babysitting. Nah...I'm out on that.

I don't really like the idea of a random person watching my child, but yeah...

IF I had to have a random person watch my child, I would be way more inclined to pick a woman over a man

Any responsible parent wants to know that their children are safe in the care of others. Licensed daycare centers are one thing, but hiring someone to sit my kids in my home is another. I would want references whether straight, gay or other.

You've misread me

Have a couple of good friends that are gay that could watch my kid any day of the week. Had a gay guy stand in my wedding.

But this gender fluidity shite is just craziness. That's a different story. A guy named Brad that wears a wig and dress and makeup isn't watching my kids.

ETA:

Gay or straight, I think its weird if a post-college, adult dude wanted to watch my kids. That I agree with you on. That wasn't the OP's question though
