So here’s the story. After taking my family and elderly parents to dinner we exit into the parking lot and I get everyone loaded in the vehicle, only to find that the drivers door can only open A small amount for me to get in the vehicle. The person on the left had done the worlds most inconsiderate parking job And parked so crooked that their front right fender was just a few inches from my driver side door. So my choices are have my father get back out of the vehicle and stand in the parking lot while I climb over the center console To reach the driver seat or become a contortionist and squeeze in through the small gap allowed by the inconsiderate driver next to me.
I chose the latter, and opened the door as far as the neighboring car would allow and then entered my vehicle. Completely aware of the fact that my door may leave a blemish on the neighboring car as a result. However once in my vehicle, as I was backing out, I saw what appeared to be not just a simple rub mark, but very likely an actual ding near where the door had been in contact with the other vehicle. No it’s not 100% certainty that it wasn’t there before but it’s a good 99% chance that I caused it.
Now I was pissed, tired, and had a vehicle full of tired family. So I went home. But now after time for reflection I’m struggling with whether or not I was wrong to not leave a note on the window or at least get out of vehicle to more closely inspect the mark. I think I was wrong to just leave and wish I hadn’t.
This is some beta shite right here. Let me see if I can recap:
- you park centered in spot
- moron parks crooked and by necessity must have come over the line to be within inches of your door
- you open door and touch other door and squeeze into your car
- you are forced into inconvenience and possible damage to YOUR property because of someone else's incompetency and inconsiderate behavior
- but you come here to know if karma is going to smack you down for potential damage to the idiot's door

frick that. You didn't do anything wrong.
If you wanna park like an a-hole a few inches from other vehicles, you deserve to have your car damaged.
In fact, I will purposely hit their door with mine if the a-hole parks closely.

When you parked your car you did not leave me enough space to get into mine. I may have slightly damaged your vehicle trying to leave with my family. Blow me.

Would you feel guilty if you did what I did the other night, and was it a dick move?
I had parked in my buddies apartment parking lot one night and was dead center of my spot. A guy backed in next to me and only left about a foot to 18" between me and him (he was over a foot into my parking spot) and I couldn't get in my vehicle. I actually elbowed his passenger door enough to open my door so I could get in. His door was dented enough to where he most likely couldn't let his window down without replacing his door.
I don't feel bad for someone parking like an a-hole. I wouldn't do it had I been left a choice but I wasn't climbing over shite to get in my vehicle because some a-hole parked in the same spot with me.
