Introducing to the OT....the Mustang Mach E. This is Ford's effort to catch up to Tesla, General Motors, VW, Nissan, and BMW in the EV market.

It offers no unreliable 3V Triton or Powerstroke diesel.
There's no trace of an Ecoboost time bomb or broken 10 speed autos in this car either.

Just pure electric power. And Ford would prefer that you call this simply the "Mustang Mach E", as they are distancing this car from the Ford brand for obvious reasons.

It offers approximately 211 miles of range for $40,000, and can charge overnight in your garage with the right outlet.

The Ford Mustang Mach-E has just touched down in Europe. As it goes on sale here, the signs look good. It will have 300 miles of range and will cost less than $35,000. Obviously, this is a very important car for Ford Motor Company, so Jay Leno spoke to the Detroit automaker's President and CEO Jim Farley to find out just what makes the all-electric SUV special, and what makes it worthy of the Mustang name. As you'll hear in the video below, Jim Farley is a proper car guy, not just a pencil pusher, and the passion for the Mustang brand is clear to see.

Part of making the Mustang Mach-E attractive to buyers is the way it performs, and Farley says that not only is the regular Mach-E able to offer more torque than the Mustang Bullitt, but the GT version will have more than 600 lb-ft of torque too. As someone who races a 1966 GT40 on the weekends, Farley knows a lot about how a performance car should feel to drive, and he reassures us that the Mach-E has a lot of "Detroit swagger", which can only bode well for the way that it will be received by the everyday individual in a dealer.

Hatchback? Lol, no thanks. I would rather have a Mustang II than that POS.

Looks like they just gorilla glued an iPad to the dash. At least build it in!

Why did they have to ruin the Mustang line with this?

Couldn't they just create a new badge like "Chode" or "Fart Sniffer"?

Wish it wasn't called a Mustang.

Don't want to commit to being all trashy just to own a car.

That center touchscreen is a bit egregious but damn do I love it, can I tow a bay/bass boat with it?

That's what Tesla did to the 3. Ford only copies the best.

That display looks horrible. It’s like they forgot to design a display on it. Then say “frick it” let’s bolt on a 19 inch TV sideways!

Why do so many car companies think that people want ugly electric vehicles.

Mustang owners ruined the Mustang line already. Can't blame it on the new EV car.

Badging an SUV as a Mustang is not a good start.

No.

But the most expensive model ($60,000+) may score up to 300 miles of range.

Electric car with 300 mile range for that price with performance? You have my attention.

Call it a Mustang and make the body a hatchback econo box? Go frick yourself.*

*I am a Ford Mustang guy so this pains me to say that.

The $40,000 model has 211 miles of range.

The one that costs nearly double that offers up to 300 miles. But Ford isn't committing to that number.

If it's made by Ford, it's probably already broken.

Just wait until they go on sale next year. They are building 60,000 of them before October.
