Hell yes.

Find an Isuzu Trooper and I would drive that as well.

And as for the rear main seal leaking...Tahoes are also notorious for that. Not just Japanese SUVs

I guess F-150’s are as well. My dad had his fixed twice for it. This was a late 90’s F-150.

Weren't those things super top heavy? I knew two guys who had them while I was in the Air Force, one of them rolled theirs over and the other ones engine blew out.

I had an '89 & '96 Montero.

ETA- I loved the '89, but it eventually would leave a cloud of blue smoke so big, people would tell me my car was on fire.

Surprisingly capable off road.

My buddy in HS legit started crying when his dad pulled up with one of those for his 16th bday present. He had been bragging about getting a new Denali

We stopped being friends shortly after that as he was supposed to be driving me around in a dope ride, and his refusal of that one led to no car

Hell yes. My roommate in college had one of these and I had an Isuzu Trooper II. Mine was pretty utilitarian, but the Mitsubishi was really super nice inside.

When my family built a house in Roatan, we shipped the exact same vehicle, color and everything, in a container to the island. It ran almost flawlessly for the 20 years that we owned the house. I would have never guessed that a Montero would fetch more money today than when we bought it used in 1998.
The only problem it had was that the salt air ruined the computer and we had to have one flown in from Houston.

I had a ‘94 and loved it. I also had an ‘03 limited and it was probably my favorite vehicle I ever owned.

Almost bought a used trooper a few years back with that same look. Had 90k clean miles. It was flawless.

Maybe don't drive over curbs

We still have our '96 Montero. 406k on the odometer...original motor, transmission, transfer case, rear end...even the original exhaust. The thing refuses to even think about dying.

Buddy of mine had one when he was stationed in Misawa back in the day. It was a fun vehicle but like everyone has said it was very top heavy and dangerous in the snow up there. We looked into what it would take to have it shipped back when he left but it just wasn't worth the trouble. Today I would pay the money to have it here especially since his was a diesel version.

I had a 1996 the body some after this one. It was a beast. But Mitsu engines suck. My parents changed the first one for me. I couldn't change the second and the car was scrapped. Like 2004.
