My dad had two 450SL. Pretty much identical to the 560 but I actually think the 450 performed better. They were great cars to drive. Very smooth. I'd drive one any day.
Mom had a 450SEL with wire wheels. I had to clean those MFers.

One of my favorite cars of all time. Actually looking for a good deal for one as a Sunday driver.

quote:My son drives with me and passes the time determining the boring/interesting car ratio on any particular stretch of highway. Currently, it's averaging about 1 interesting car every 2.5 miles. So it's a ratio of about 450:1. Mustangs don't count as interesting unless they are somewhat of a classic, like a restored Fox body, or a Saleen, Roush or Cobra.
kids today aren't as interested in cars in part because most sold now are boring to drive.

Then, drive this on Sunday to mass

When I imagine 80s Texas oil money, I think of the SEL sedans.
Love those roadsters though.

When I hear people say the 80's were awesome, I think about how they must have been all fricked up on some bad drugs because they made cars like assholes and they were murdering the shite out of each other
Music was bitchin though I will give them that

Those AMG cars were vulgar cool.
I loved the second generation body kit too - those ended up getting sold as factory cars as the Mercedes E36, with the 3.6 liter AMG straight six.
They were the C36 AMG but on the W124 platform.

They were slightly detuned to meet US emissions standards, but I don’t think the Euro models broke 300 hp.
Edit - 296 hp and 336 lb/ft for the 5.5 liter M117

The W126 may have been the best car ever made. If you could afford one of these in the 1980s, you were rich. Really rich. And didn't have time for some bullshite Lexus, Jaguar, or Cadillac.

I love that chassis. The W126 coupe, that was something else.

A corvette with a Ferrari rep body? No thanks
For the Benz? Hell yes. Depending on the year that car is rock solid and will appreciate in value soon.

Automatic transmission? No thanks.

This isn't the type of car that should have a manual.

That car would be a pleasure to drive. While all the safety features are nice, the driving experience of most new cars is numb. IMO, kids today aren't as interested in cars in part because most sold now are boring to drive.
Always wanted to drive this:
Did get to drive a Subaru WRX hatchback. That was crazy fun to drive.

That car looks like an 80’s blonde haired fake tits no arse trophy wife.
