Not a big believer, so the answer is easy for me. Plus, I'd always take a known existence over a speculative one.

When I used to do stress testing (trying to get people to crack in stressful situations) we used to do shite like that. It didn't make you feel good but it needed to be done. Walk up and down the line asking people their religeious and political beliefs. If they were stupid enough to answer, no matter what, we'd make their lives hell for awhile. Cause honestly in a situation like that, there is no right answer. Best to say nothing one way or the other

My guess because people would be the most vulnerable. Most times people could be carrying which waters down the post.

I wish I could go into further detail but I can't. All I'll say is it was necessary and it could be brutal and go over the line but it was in the hopes if they ever found themselves in a similar situation, they could fall back on previous experiences and training
