Rental companies are having to keep their cars longer than they'd like.

I just got through went a rental from Enterprise that was at least 2 years old with 50,000 miles on it.

Yeah. This one had 45,000 miles on it.

I'm not talking about just the expense of replacing the tires. The rental company took care of that. I'm talking about them refunding the entire cost of the rental. I could have died or killed someone due to their negligence.

If the tires were bald, then yeah. You should bring this up and demand most of your money back since it costs you a lot of time and put your safety at risk.

Fun story:

I had a double blow out on a rental truck this summer. The rear tires on the truck were re-treads that were installed in Chicago. They'd have probably been fine up there, but we were driving to the gulf coast in the summer (100 degree weather). The tread separated on the outside rear tire, which then caused the inside rear tire to blow out as I was pulling onto the soft shoulder from the first blowout. This happened around Brookhaven, MS.

Their tech removed both flat tires from the truck on the side of I-55. Before the new tires were on, the truck fell off the jack and nearly flipped into the ditch. The tech came damn close to being crushed by the truck. It eventually took a crane to lift the truck and repair it, and they had to block I-55 for a while. We were out there for about 7 hours in total.

The truck was an International Durastar with about 200,000 miles on it. It was mechanically in perfect shape except for the shitty re-treaded tires.

After both blown tires were replaced, we drove to Louisiana very slowly to avoid building up heat in the other 4 tires. Had it happened on one of the left hand turns on the elevated parts of I-55 in Jackson, I'm not sure I could have kept the truck upright or on the highway at all. We were very lucky nobody got hurt.

The moving truck rental company offered to pay for any damage to furniture on the inside of the truck and refunded us for most of the rental costs. They didn't even really complain about it. They apologized profusely for giving us a truck with bad tires. They sent a big check to us immediately. I never want to move again, but I have no issues with that moving truck company after that.

Yeah, they know how bad it could have been if someone had died because of their defective vehicle.

I had about 7 too many to drink at the casino so my wife had to drive out. Got pulled over and had to jump through all kinda hoops for the Officer Dickhead. Although wife apparently she had to give him head the entire time.

That's the inside of the tire. You wouldn't see that from a walk around.

Here are both front tires.

That's two photos of the same f'ing tire!

You just turned it around for the second picture.

Short cut, short cut, "Y" shaped cut, long cut.

Inside of rim is on the right in first photo.
Inside of rim is on the left in second photo.
Even the wheel weight is in the same spot between the "O" and the "L" in SOLUS on both photos.
