AE has enough sales to where you should never have to pay retail for a pair.

Thanks, I'm looking for some travel, 'dress' shoes...but I'm an engineer so dress is relative. Field work is usually involved, but these aren't my steel toes.

I got a pair of Codys that had literally been worn twice for $70 shipped. AE will never touch that kind of price. Got a pair of McAllisters for $65 shipped in almost as good condition.

My other 3 pairs of AEs were bought at their store, but you can get great deals on line if you care to look.

oh i know there are good deals. i just cant wear someone else's shoe... the strands i'm wearing right now that have only been worn by me were worth the extra $100

They aren't someone else's shoes, they're mine. They weren't worn anymore than had they been tried on in store and walked in. And you didn't get a pair of new Strands from AE for $170 all in.

That's why I said you can get them recrafted. Pretty much turned into a brand new shoe.
