Would you be a police officer in a city like: Boston, Austin, Seattle, or Denver?

I would never consider being a police officer in a southern city. Way too much crime, and i'm not getting killed for 40k a year.

I've been looking at some of the pay in the aforementioned cities, and it's not too shabby. I think i'd do it if I lived in one of those cities for sure.

Cost of living would put you back at poverty level. Cop is one of the worst jobs out there especially in today’s political climate

I had a buddy that lived in Seattle and Austin and he tried to get on with both and said the competition to get on was incredible. He had plenty of experience but could never pass the tests.

He then moved back to LA and got another cop job easily

Austin PD are the gestapo. They arrested a girl who was jogging and demanded ID for basically no reason at all:

this sort of nonsense is a common occurrence. It's like these guys are so mad they live in a liberal city they just want to arrest the world.

Not Austin, not in a million years, of coarse if your a lesbian hispanic, then youve got it made.

Not only do you have to contend with an expanding criminal base, you have to put up with the Liberal Loon's that run Travis County.

I'd be a police officer in a heartbeat if the pay was anywhere near decent. I'd never join on a ghetto babysitting service like BRPD or NOPD, but St. Tammany Parish Sheriff or somewhere not eaten up with culcha would be great.

I respect the hell out of the BRPD and NOPD guys, I could just never deal with the bullshite they see on a daily basis.

Agreed.

I believe the best place to be a cop would be a conservative Florida beach city/town. Cost of living isn't insane and you are in a great environment minus hurricanes.

Austin starting pay is around 72k, so not exactly 40k. I think all the depts you have listed start at more than 40k. Now if you would have listed br, then you would have been right except it's around 32k and no sign of a raise in the near future.

And people wonder why BR police applications are down 90%

You want guys to do a dangerous job, and accept peanuts in return. Every time those guys leave the house they are at risk to be killed or be hung out to dry if there is any sort of altercation

Those cities are mostly leftist. The local politicians don't support the police and you will be ordered to stand down and watch antifa rioters destroy the city and attack innocent people.
