I mean this thread is basically “do you live in a cold place or a hot place?”

I rarely use my heat in the winter and it never gets too cold inside.

Not even a valid question, who needs a heater here?

Holy section 8! I can't use my stove for heat?

Most certainly can, FWIW. just horribly inefficient, but you can get a good amount of heat out of a stove and range top

Depends on the area you live in but this is a retarded question for Louisiana

In Louisville, KY, I’m in between I suppose.

Back in 2008-2009, we went two weeks without power due to remnants from Hurricane Ike in September. It was hot but we were able to deal with it.

That January we got hit with a massive ice storm that also knocked the power out for about two weeks. Temps got down into the -5 to -10 range. The first night before we got our generator was the coldest I’ve ever been in my life and there’s no amount of layering up to “fix” that. So I’ll take no A/C.

Yeah but I thought he meant artificial.

Still no heat. I can put on more clothes.

Being hot and humid inside is just miserable.

Come down to Louisiana now for a few weeks with no AC, you will change your mind. I can understand your answer being in Kentucky. Not the case in Louisiana.

a full week of 15-35 degree type weather... thats some serious health risk there.

Lot of BS in this thread, I have been in hundreds of houses, businesses, schools, and hospitals in South LA in the Winter, every one of them had the heat running. I think some don't realize the huge difference there is between having heat and "barely" using it and having none.

It can get pretty hot here in the summer these days. Before I left for Florida we had something like 10 consecutive days of 100+ heat index and had the highest heat index in the country on the 4th I believe. That’s not a dry heat either. It’s humid AF in the Ohio Valley.

There’s just something about being that cold that you can’t shake. Especially when you start figuring in wind chills. It’s brutal.

I don't use my heat if I am by myself. It doesn't get that cold inside plus I like it cold.

Not disputing that, I just hate being hot. Not fond of freezing either but we don't have that much down here.

Not LA, but I came back to my house in eastern North Carolina late one summer night to find out that my AC unit was out. It was humid and in the upper 80's/low 90's and it was the most miserable night sleep I've ever experienced. Compare that to me camping out in 30 degree weather, and I'll take no heat every time.

I've had my house for 5 years. I've turned on the heat MAYBE 5 times.

My response won't change. It doesn't get that cold in Louisiana. Sure some brief moments but that's it.
