Some Irish workers from Disney want to come to Nola for a mardi gras, but no place to stay and im guessing Air BnB is pricey this time of year. Would Spainish town and the surrounding bars be a good time? same level of ratchet as Nola? havent been to Spanish town in years. dont know any house parties either.
Also, what is Mardi gras in Lafayette like?

It's what you make of it... you can have a blast if you want. Do Spanish Town that Saturday then drive to NOLA Sunday for all the big parades there. I'm sure everyone on here will poopoo on Spanish Town though.

Bite the bullet and do it. Don't half arse it and give them a subpar experience.

It would be fun for a few hours but nothing like the party in New Orleans. If someone is traveling to Louisiana for Mardi Gras do not fricking take them to Baton Rouge

It’s nowhere near as cool as the Monroe/West Monroe crew of Janus parade. But hell, what parade is...

Pretty fun, but not nola. What makes Spanish Town fun is the absurd quantity of throws and the political humor, mostly roasting local characters. They’ll likely enjoy the former, but the latter will be lost on them.

If they’re staying in BR, take them to Spanish Town Saturday afternoon, then drive down to NOLA for Endemion that night or the following morning for Thoth.

If they are irish, as long as the bar has whiskey and someone who looks different that they can fight, theyll be fine.

I feel like I will disappoint them. Im not in the fraternity/sorority scene of Tulane, LSU, or Ull, not many hot friends with single women around. I will bore them.
they better off at Universal mari gras

Spanish Town is the starting line of the Mardi Gras marathon. A quick nap early noon and then hit the road to New Orleans to catch Endymion, then Sunday, Monday, and sometimes Tuesday parades, though it always seems to rain on Tuesday.

As with most parades, Spanish Town is a lot better if you know people along the route, especially along Spanish Town Rd. Some solid parties during and after the parade.

Watched it at the end near 3rd st a couple years ago and it was blast. Everyone on the floats were wasted by that time. One of the more political parades, besides crew de vieux in NOLA.

If you can’t have fun at Spanish Town then I find it hard to believe you could have fun in any drinking related activity.
