They can't even support their current teams without taxpayers throughout the whole state subsidizing them.

They didn't really start supporting an NFL team until recently.

Hmmm, even in the 90s when they sucked I remember there not being an empty seat in the dome.

Saints attendance is fine. They were 9th in the league last year. Sure they had some bad years, but the teams were really awful.

Would BR and the Ms gulf Coast support it and would they make it to weekday games and day games?? I don't think so....although if the watermark is some of the shittsstick attendance in a couple of the worst parks the last few years. I think Nola could hit those but don't think we would ever make it to middle of the pack so no one is shooting to be in the bottom 10% unfortunately.

What about MLS with all the internationals aka Latinos in the area the last decade?

No. Market is too small.

Maybe one day Baton Rouge, north shore, and New Orleans will sprawl into each other like San Jose/San Francisco or Dallas/Ft Worth.

That probably won't happen in my lifetime.

be interested to see how many more years the Pelicans last there.

New Orleans and the surrounding area including S.MS and bayou country, are all hardcore sports fans... This is what they will have Qualifying Attendence in the respective league and ALWAYS SUPPORT:

-New Orleans Saints
-Winner in any other Pro sport
-Their HS football team

Maybe with another 1.0-1.5 million people in the New Orleans, Baton Rouge, and MS Gulf Coast metro areas......and a shite load of infrastructure, jobs, and housing to support them. That's a good 30-50 year goal actually.

I do think this could potentially hurt attendance for a MLB team in the region.

I think the area could support a team with an owner strictly wanting revenue sharing. The occasional playoff team and maybe a star or two who wants to cut his teeth before his big contract.

The region was on track to do so until the 80's oil crunch happened.

New Orleans is really lucky to have both a NFL and NBA team. This is all the city can handle right now. The city and metro would have to grow much more to support another professional franchise.

That's why I was wondering if Louisiana would support an MLB team. I went to an lsu baseball game a few years back and was pretty amazed.
