Would deliveries be considered “essential” if things go to total lockdown?

I can see us getting through a lockdown if we can keep getting deliveries. Amazon, UPS and FedEx? What’s going to happen?

Yes, they would be as it could be "the only way some people can get essential items"

Restaurants are still considered essential for take out/delivery.

Honestly most things can be twisted to be considered "essential".

In Cali, the lockdown is mostly retail. The essential exemptions are very broad.

Yes they are essential. For some that is the only method of getting medications for cancer patients and others.

Alcohol & food through Waitr has already been deemed as essential.

I thought I read an article saying that they are considered essential. Doubt I'd be able to find it though. Probably something that popped up on Facebook.

I figured even if places are considered nonessential that they might still be able to operate. Not by opening their doors like normal, but plenty of businesses deal primarily with shipping their goods. Why should they have to stop?

We have a small shop, 6 total people in the business in a 2—3000 sq ft building. 3 do sales and 3/4 operate the machines. We still have clients ordering product and we want to keep our machines running. Also want to get ahead so when things do open up we don't get slammed with orders.

Everything can ship via ups or FedEx. I'm sure there are businesses out there that sell things people need that wouldn't require them to deal with anyone face to face. They should be able to go in and earn money.

I'm trying to remember what Honkus said about food and supplies during the lockdown in China. IMO I think we'd likely see 2-3 workers and only 4-5 customers in a grocery store at one time.

Restaurants need to work out their curbside pickup. Had to ho inside to pickup supper last night and there were 8 of us in ~100 sq feet of space. I think shutting them down is the most restrictive we'll see.

Sadly, Amazon has slowed way down, Prime deliveries are scheduled out 5-6 days now, not sure if it's the fulfillment side or delivery side that's being slowed down.

Pushes my stay-at-home project out a week, another week of fishing....errr I mean teleworking, really accomplishing stuff....

I'd think that anything like food, meds, petrol, etc would be considered essential.

Now if you wanted to go to Best Buy or the Apple Store to buy a new ipad, you'd not be allowed to do it.
Buying it online from one of those vendors would be a better option.

But the real question is would you want to.

Also after power and communications are cut, they wouldn't do you much good anyway.

What I’ve learned from this thread is that very few of you know what “lockdown” really means

As long as when you go to the store, no one caughs on anyone and you clean your hands and what you bought, you’re good.

A total lockdown is not a real thing. IDK why some of you keep using that term.

I'd recommend avoiding that garbage delivery app.
