Baltimore is a shithole, so is Philly. Two places I'm not much interested in. Camden across the river from Philly looks like a bio-weapon nuke hit it and left behind meth zombies. Memphis wasn't bad when I was there but it probably isn't now. All of the Upstate New York cities I'm familiar with, Rochester, Buffalo, Syracuse, Albany and Binghamton, are pretty run down and dumpy. That won't stop me from going back Upstate on occasion but it's fricking depressing.

I had to go to SF for work pretty often Pre-covid, but would never do again willingly.

Haven’t been to ATL in 5 years or more and don’t plan to ever again despite living 3.5 hours away.

ETA: NOLA and Baltimore also suck just as bad.

Spent a week in St Louis a few years ago for work and was underwhelmed. Not baseball season and Blues were out of town. Maybe I wasn’t looking hard enough but definitely came across as a big meh.

When no Sports, downtown is dead. I think we all know the reason for this. The people stay in the burbs, and stay there for dining and stuff. Why risk being robbed or killed.

But when Cardinals are in town, place is happening. Sadly this is how it has become, especially when the Landing was killed by Arch redevelopment.

If you can't find something decent in Chicago, you deserve all the unhappiness

Miami. Went in 2003. Never want to go back. It was fake and expensive and just stupid to me.

You're welcome to all it's shitty glory. And if finding "something decent" in a city makes you want to go back, you deserve all the...mild contentment?

I'd rather live in Bawcomwille than Philadelphia. I absolutely despise that place.

Baltimore. At night, it look like Night of the Living Dead when the crackheads come out. No. Thank you.

St. Louis. Specifically downtown and right across the river in ESTL.

And this may be unpopular but Atlanta, GA

I’d rather visit Austin, TX again rather than Atlanta

What are the qualities you seek in an American city?
Leave the international cities out of this and tell us why you choose Boston, Miami, and Houston over the others. I'm particularly interested in what you hated about Chicago. Like where did you go, how long, etc?

I've been to L.A. once and wasn't all that impressed. To be fair I was only there for a day. I was kind of surprised how much air pollution they have there.

75% of Palermo is the worst of San Francisco, Oakland, Memphis, Mogadishu, and Satan's anus all rolled into one. The other 25% is actually very cool.
