I'm originally from Chalmette. Every time I hear someone wit that "Yat" accent, it makes me cringe.
But get me with my old Chalmette friends, and it comes out in me too.

The Popeyes commercial lady is pretty bad talking about Cajun spices and she sounds like a South Carolina reject.

I grew up in NOLA, so I didn't get that cajun accent, but I have some cajun family down on the bayou that I don't think understand each other when they talk.

a lot of people from Lafayette always tend to exaggerate their accents, especially if they are outside the area in order to get a rise out of people.

My blood boils when she speaks.
I typically have a redneck accent, unless I'm in an academic environment. Then it goes a bit pompous and dickish...more consonants and less vowels.
But get a little whiskey in me, or play some true cajun music, and I can't hold the accent in.

There was a movie with Susan Serandon that came out like 15 years ago. And it was her against the Cajun mafia or some shite. It was pretty bad.
We have a local radio commercial for a tow truck company and the guy speaking does a god awful Cajun accent.

That Scott Bailey enterprises commercial has got to be the most annoying commercial ever. It's so bad that I saw a Scott Bailey in the obituary section of the newspaper and got excited. Apparently it was the wrong one.
