I read the methodology.. Based primarily on award willing and published alumni and faculty. More valid than many I've seen.
So it is in fact valid and Tulane sucks
"Universities are ranked by several indicators of academic or research performance, including alumni and staff winning Nobel Prizes and Fields Medals, highly cited researchers, papers published in Nature and Science, papers indexed in major citation indices, and the per capita academic performance of an institution"

Meh, that's just ranking research output with apparently no per capita considerations for size of the schools, not academic quality in terms of undegrad education. The two are largely unrelated.

Alabama has a top ranked law school

There's no mention of per capita weighting for the research output considerations. That LSU education is failing you old timer

If they don’t consider “strength of schedule” the list is bogus.

OK, you finally found one 'possible' flaw after 2 strikes. So it's not a perfect system, but definitely shows that Tulane is vastly over-rated.
The thing that Tulane does excel in as it was at one time the NUMBER ONE 2nd choice university in America! May still be for all I know.
You're NUMBER ONE at being number 2

There are many kids in Louisiana that are going to undergrad school at Alabama, It is the damnest thing I have seen. There is a sophomore in Monroe that has already lit up the ACT and Bama will be the school
My son’s school had 6 co-Valedictorians this year. I think 3 were headed to University of South Alabama. Mind-boggling.

giving away LOTS of money to go there....they have 50% out of state kids...easy entry and they pay. Full ride with a 32/33 or something. Louisiana kid can't get that at LSU, but can at 'bama.
Georgia and Florida are 85% local and basically don't let out of state in. Don't give away much when they do.
LSU in the middle somewhere

Where's the list of student debt coming out of those top 10 universities..?
Most of those schools have huge endowments, if you are accepted you pay based on your financial ability, a significant percentage pay zero, and few graduate with any debt.
Harvard for example,
"Because we seek the best students regardless of their ability to pay, we are committed to meeting 100 percent of demonstrated financial need for all four years. International students receive exactly the same financial aid as Americans. In fact, approximately 70 percent of our students receive some form of aid, and about 60 percent receive need–based scholarships and pay an average of $12,000 per year. Twenty percent of parents pay nothing. No loans required."

Robert Oppenheimer was associated with 5 of the top 10 Universities:
Attended Harvard and Cambridge, and taught at Cal-Berkeley, Cal Tech, and Princeton.
That man was the bomb!

Ranked by Nobel laureates and publishing rhetoric from their ivory towers-
Show me the rankings based on earnings as an employee or entrepreneur, not as an investor or inheritee.
That’s the data I want to see.
