Workplace Drug Testing - Has Your Work Stopped?

Prior to Covid we tested randomly every 3 months. Since 2020 we’ve done 0 random drug testing. We do new employees and any incidents/accidents but no randoms. Its mainly due to finding new (good) employees, hard to find so we don’t want to cause staff shortages via testing.
Curious what other companies are doing.

I have never been randomly drug screened at work. In 2021, when I was hired by my current employer, I didn't even have to take a piss test as part of the background check.

No. Still doing it. I got pulled a couple of months ago.
But I do have a question.
Is anyone changing testing policy with the increase in CBD availability and the fact that it stays in your system so long? THC levels could be increase for weeks after. We lost at least two candidates for employment due to failed testing but things are changing. How is this stuff effecting policy?
ETA: You get high on a Friday night, you are fine Saturday, get pulled on Wednesday and fail. If you had gotten drunk, your job wouldn't be in question. But this causes your termination.

Alcohol probably isn't against your company policy. Weed certainly is.

I get it. But one isn't any more debilitating than the other a day or so later. Should that change?

My body, my choice?

We still do random testing but only for staff that is going to be working on certain client projects in the field. Say we have four, 3 man crews going to work on a Kinder Morgan right-of-way...usually one of those 12 people will get tested. But the do the same for Enterprise and there is no testing at all.

The drug testing that my son goes through to work in the plants is pretty ridiculous. They’ll do a hair follicle test that goes back six months to detect weed, but if you did coke, crack, or meth a week before the test, you’re good to go.

We're subject to randoms, back in 2018 I was pulled for 3 randoms in something like 9 months but none since. Several months back I was telling my wife that I had started to wonder if they'd quit doing randoms and about 2 weeks later I got pulled. Then pulled again about 6 weeks after. Whatever randomizer they use is whack.
I passed, FYI.

My company (Consulting) doesn't drug test but we frequently get asked when onboarding to new clients, especially insurance companies

If we drug tested we’d probably have to fire 75% of our SWEs. I’ve been here for 6 years and we have never tested.

no test prior to employment and no tests during. company expects us to do our drinking and drugging off the clock. i have to admit the approach is working as far as hiring and retaining quality staff.

I modified our policy somewhat, or as much as I could within my insurance and state requirements.
I have to have a clean sample no matter what for new hires. That's non-negotiable from my insurance as well as the TN Drug Free program we are required to adhere to.
I also have to have a clean sample for accidents. That again is non-negotiable from my insurance as well as the TN Drug Free program. I've explained to my guys that's how it goes and there isn't much I can do about it. Kind if sucks that if you smoke a joint on Friday night but get in an accident next week that workers comp can refuse you, but it is what it is.
We still have quarterly random tests, but marijuana is no longer an immediate termination. Every other drug is an immediate termination. Insurance requires me to have some sort of punishment for marijuana, so I dock a day of vacation and require a retest in 30 days at the employee's expense. If you fail that one, then you get another day docked and a retest again in 30 days. This repeats until 90 days, at which point you may face punishment "up to termination." I basically left it open ended.
I explain it to my guys that I don't give a shite what they do on their off time, but you're sober on company time. We work with a dangerous product that will kill you in a heartbeat. I also tell them what you do on your own time can have consequences if you're injured on company time. You're an adult and able to take that risk, if you want.

I started working at the CBD extraction plant
No drug test and it's a pretty pot friendly vibe unsurprisingly
However my contract says if there is an incident I'll be drug and alcohol tested
We extract full spectrum CBD using 200 proof ethanol. Moving it around machine to machine, cleaning machines etc. Im pretty sure everyone would fail just by working there, absorbing and inhaling. So I'm not sure how that would work

Wouldn’t surprise me if a high percentage of these ‘work from home’ cucks wouldn’t be able to pass a drug test.

When OK went to legalized MJ we changed policy to needing an Rx just like you would any other Rx. So if you were to get popped on a random then you would break out your script to show you were legal.
I do wonder, if quite a few companies stopped or reduced testing there is likely more folks doing drugs than pre Covid because the fear of randos slowed them down. Its still not easy to get new quality employees either.
