The volume some of you all are doing for shoulders is staggering. I would suggest getting away from split routines but I am sure that will fall on deaf ears.

A-men dan.

I had been doing split routines...couldnt get anything to get to that next level.

Went and started a westside barbell routine with groupings and damn. i can rep 225 on shoulder press, squat, bench and dl all went up, and I feel much more in control of the weights.

You gotta forgive me, bro. What's a split routine? What's a 5x5? I'm new to this kind of stuff.

Body part specific routine per day. The way most people workout.
and...
Stronglifts 5x5

Oh. Awesome. But, no pullups and no yoga? I don't know if I can live in that kind of world.

thats the lifting routine. Most people use pullups and pushups as a warmup for their routines.

It is amazing how people refuse to believe us when we write the same things in all of these threads. The BB magazines have them so brainwashed that they refuse to believe what we have to say.

Im sure you can "tweak" it to you liking. If you like doing pullups, throw a couple sets in there on your back day. That 5x5 routine has been proven to work over and over again and would prlly be best if followed exactly, but that doenst mean you cant supplement it how you like as long as you dont overtrain. I think alot of people lose the creativity and spontaniety in lifting weights/working out. Customizing your own routines keeps it fresh and fun.

I gotcha. I would try it, but it requires a gym membership and a partner. And, I haven't done heavy lifting in years. I'm afraid I would hurt myself or my form would be improper.

When I was a young buck, 18 or so, I could not do one pull-up. I started training and heavy pendelay rows were part of my accessory routine. After 6 months I decided to try a few pull-ups and popped out 20 having not done any pull-up training. Yoga won't hurt you and neither will doing pull-ups as it is a bodyweight exercise.

Shoulder day is my favorite. I love leaving the gym with a nice pump in my traps. Makes me look huge

BB.com has a 5x5 routine that include weighted pull-ups.

And for the record, body weight exercises are not just warm ups. You can build strength and even mass doing them.

I need to find more body weight exercises because the limited amount of equipment and free weights at this school is a joke.

You can design whole workout programs around just body weight stuff.

Insanity uses no weights.

I've been hearing about a program called Athlean 0 that has me curious.

I love shoulder day. My least favorite day is leg day most of the time. I hate cardio days, but I still do it.

im sorry, there is no way pushups can get your pecs as big as heavy lifts, and flys.

Oh there is an end point to it. I didn't say it was the most effective way to add mass.

Unless you are strictly doing it to support cardiovascular health (which is a great thing), you really dont need to be doing it. Why are you doing cardio and what are your goals?
