Say you daughter died in a car wreck and people were sharing her pic all over the internet. Just showing the crash and your daughter laying there dead.

It's disrespectful to gawk at a dead body.

But everyone else is doing it, so frick I guess it is acceptable.

This is not all that different from the bodies on the side of the path to the summit of Everest. Some of those have been there for years because they are considered unrecoverable. People have taken pictures of them and posted them all over the internet too. I guess some people just like to gawk at bodies.

Probably a structural engineer desperately taking measurements and running calculations. He was no doubt embroiled in a frank reexamination of the design assumptions he and his colleagues had made, in response to the candid feedback of his tradesman brothers-in-arms.

We as a society have lost all sense of tact, courtesy, nuance, simple decency and that is manifested in respect(or lack thereof) of the dead.

As another person mentioned, 30 years ago someone would have found a way to get this body down out of respect for him, no matter the cost.

I expect to get “OK Boomered,” but I find it more interesting in a cultural evolution ( or degradation) kind of way. Perhaps kids who have grown up on the internet desensitized at a young age to basically any and everything has something to do with it.

It has nothing to do with “handling it” for most people, although some may prefer not to have to.

How is it possible they can put a tarp up, but not get a body out? That's terrible.

Clear that block of all people except for a few experienced ironworkers with a crane, crane basket, and some steel chokers. No tourists, family members, government workers, inspectors, etc. Give those ironworkers the freedom to recover that man's body so his family can give that man a proper burial. No amount of money in any future lawsuit will cover this family's pain, anguish, and having their deceased loved one on display for the world to see.

So why aren't they? Can't they at least implode the building?
