Basically, the coroner is an employee of Calgon and he falsified his report to try to protect Calgon.
How is it possible for the Hancock County Coroner to also be a plant employee?
I could understand if he/she had a private medical practice or an employee of a hospital system but the link to Calgon doesnt make sense.

20’ fall in a construction setting can be devastating. I personally saw 2 guys fall on sites back in the 70s that were severely injured. Paralyzed type shite. So yeah not an easy situation.
Of course it can be devastating, and not an "easy situation." Which is why I have never said otherwise at all. I simply said that 20 feet seems survivable. And in your two personal examples both of those guys lived assumedly.
My whole point was that it sucks that this dude died from falling a height that I would think most people survive. Yet somehow people are hung up on what I said like it's some idiotic take or that I said he should've landed on his feet like a cat (which someone else did actually say

WLOX really shouldn't have any reason to distrust a county coroner.
Until now. The weird thing is...it's been 2 weeks, and there isn't a single other news site saying anything...and they haven't retracted, or updated the story to say anything about waiting on additional info. I'd say by now, they know something smells fishy.

Generally the floor of the 3rd floor is about 20 feet give or take.

Not sure if MS is the same but coroner in Louisiana is an elected position. Don't even need to be a doctor (any qualifications can ve waived).

Wasn’t aware of that. Sounds pretty fkn dumb to let anyone qualify for this elected position. Would think a medical degree would be the bare minimum

It isn't common. Not sure how big Calgon Carbon is but this coroner could be employed as an on-site physician.

Sounds like he died then fell and would assume the coroner would see burns from the electrocution. Odd and very sad story.

his journeyman didn't carry him back up the scaffold.
I dont understand this point

They are saying he didnt fall. The coroner/company said he fell. His coworker is saying he was electrocuted and died on the scaffolding.

I don't know. That's what the victim's attorney stated in the press release.

Again, he did not fall out of the scaffold. He was electrocuted.

Buddy, you think that's bad? Look up what it takes to be a judge.

In many places, the Coroner doesn't actually do anything. Its kind of like the elected Clerk of Court. That person isn't doing anything either--their career underlings are the ones actually handling documents. The Coroner himself probably isnt a pathologist.

And that information was not present when I made the initial post.

The only real info I could find on that coroner in a quick google search was that he used to be a county deputy.

This is quite eye opening. I thought they were akin to a forensic medical investigator where they work a process to determine cause of death.

Multiple witnesses either saw or helped resuscitation attempts while he was on the scaffold, including first responders.
The coroner said he died because he fell. The witnesses say he was electrocuted, and carried down the scaffold after they ended CPR.

That's the medical examiner's job. They can be coroners, but it sounds like this guy, Jeff Hair, is not.
