Weird melt for that couple. I've gone on trips with females and my wife has gone on trips, I don't know if she has specifically gone with any men from her group of offices because they're mostly women. If it's a conference or something along those lines that I've been to, there are women and men from that company, or other companies and they'll have a mixer at night. If someone wants to sleep with someone else, it'll happen regardless.

Wait, WTF? So becuase she and her husband are insecure, the solution is either that YOU can't go, or that the company incur more expense sending a third person?!?!

What a great, great post for International Woman's Day.

It really is. I've been working for over 40 years and when I got out of college, my field (accounting) was mostly male dominated. I knew some folks who cheated when they travelled and a lot who didn't, but that didn't mean you couldn't enjoy a nice mean and some drinks in the bar. And this was in the 80s and 90s when nobody paid any attention to what was happening outside the office.

If someone is going to cheat, they are. I never buy the "Oh I got drunk" or "Oh it just happened" bullshite. Unless you are an idiot or end up cuddling up with someone in the bar (as opposed to just sitting across the table), nothing is going to happen. In every single marriage, opportunities present themselves. But you always have control, or you're just really looking for that opportunity. One thing led to another is a convenient way to say you wanted to cheat.

Stuff like this makes me glad I work for myself. I couldn’t imagine dealing with HR and the diversity/sexual harassment “trainings”
back when I did have to deal with those things (hotel business), everyone was banging everyone else regardless of marital status and nobody gave a shite

Related but just a messed up story. I work for a large global and a young guy worked on a team with a married lady advisor. She would make him stay in the same hotel room with her on work trips and strip naked and throw herself at the kid. Turns out he bats for the other team and eventually came out. She wrote a 5 page letter to ask him why he was and does he pitch or catch. She then proceeded to email him the same stuff. Got so bad her husband emailed and said wtf is going on. He brought it to HR and was removed from the team and basically left to fade away at the firm. HR swept it under the rug and so did local management. Kid left the firm and didn’t sue, which was unreal to me. I read the hand written letter and a couple emails and couldn’t freaking believe this lady. She still works at the firm and didn’t even get a hand slap for it all.

Cool story bro I know

you didn’t want to go in the first place, just don’t go, seems to be the simple solution to make everybody happy

It’s not that I didn’t want to go, but it’s just bad timing with some other stuff going on that is was a slight inconvenience. And frick her, I’m not canceling to appease her when she went to my boss and tried to get her to cancel my trip. Call me petty and spiteful, but that’s where I am. Plus I get to see a friend I haven’t seen in close to 10 years.

Sorry but you know very little about men.

He was mind fricking you for 15 years and probably rubbed one out more than once if you're remotely attractive.

It wouldn't surprise me one bit. But that also wouldn't matter to me.

My favorite story about men is that back in the 90s we had a secretary (back when there were lots of them) who was drop dead gorgeous and wore very tight skirts and sweaters. Just imagine it. She's exactly like you imagine. Blond, big boobs, etc. One of the men (very nice, married to his childhood sweetheart to this day) said he had to close his door in order to get any work done when she filed in the cabinets in the hall outside his office. That's when I truly understood men. I have never seen a man so good looking that I'd have to close my door to work.

It's not some unknown thing that alcohol removes inhibitions and boundaries that exist to sober people. People absolutely do some crazy and messed up stuff under the influence of alcohol or drugs that they would never do sober, because the sober mind is usually able to calculate risk/reward.

It's not at all an excuse. But let's not pretend the old Vegas regret doesn't exist. People will do things like cheating under the influence because that logical wall is gone.

It's a tale as old as time, and I've seen it wreck way too many careers and marriages over the years.

Men are Mars women are from venus.

Watch the beginning of When Harry met Sally when they travelled from Chicago to NY.

If you're remotely attractive every man you meat wood. Regardless of your wants. More times than not you don't even see it.

Don't feel bad. You aren't alone in not knowing. Women have that special gift of being naive to such things.

2 predictions:

They are divorced within 2 years. No trust, no relationship.

She will become your boss, and your divorced boss will make you wear latex in places you did not know were places at future conference.

Absolutely not an excuse. IMHO, if getting drunk is all it takes, then they were looking to cheat. Or they are stupid enough to get so drunk they don't remember what they are doing. Also, not an excuse and they deserve any consequences they get.

This guy isn’t afraid she will cheat. It’s absolutely him not wanting another man to THINK he has a chance with his wife. It’s 100% about the husband’s insecurity towards other men.

Thinking was a poor choice of words. I still do not believe in most cases there is any chance of anyone acting out if they are in a strong relationship.

Seen When Harry Met Sally a ton of times.

I know this. But it doesn't matter to women. Most women know all of this by the time they are around mid 20's or so. You only think you have us fooled. I guess the stupid women may not know better. You should realize that I've been around a very long time if I've been working for 40 years.

Men can think things all they want. But most of them have enough sense to not act on those thoughts. Since that is the case, most women don't really care what they are thinking.
