Use the medication as a baby step. Right now, you’re just treating the symptoms. Counseling helps address the problem. My wife is so much better at being aware of her emotional fluctuations and telling me that’s the reason she’s being difficult. She also makes more well reasoned decisions.
Hint: you can’t tell a woman she needs to go to counseling. Confide in one of her friends that you’re concerned that you don’t like the idea of simply taking a pill to treat the symptoms. Or use the “a friend at work” story. Or, suggest couples therapy to co-manage the issue and go with her to get things started. Then bail once she starts liking it.

She definitely needs to get her hormone levels tested, and by a doctor who knows what they're doing in that area.
But, hormones aside, her being an insufferable grouch is a choice. It's not as if women aren't used to wild hormone swings monthly for decades. Having the ability to bite your tongue, so to speak, is called being an adult.

If she leaves you, consider it a favor. Mine left after almost 20 years of marriage. Completely insufferable person. No amount of money spent or other items of affection could make her happy.

My wife just turned 80 - she's still a joy to be around. She is as beautiful as she was when she was a model in her 20s and 30s.

yep. She is a hard narcissist and can't see her faults at all. I fully admit I could have done more but I also know that it wouldn't have mattered because she would never be happy or satisfied. She needs every bit of attention all the time.
In nearly five years of marriage, outside of anniversaries, birthday and Christmas, she hasn't spent $20 on me. I was sick one day and asked her to pick me up a $4 bowl of soup from the Chinese place on the way home (literally 200 yards out of the way she drives home) and she drove past it to come get cash from me because she didn't want to spend money on me.
I am well better off without her and I know it. Doesn't make divorce any easier and I just want it over with because I can't start dating until the papers are back and it is done (morals and all).

yes, my wife went to her GYNO to get Testosterone, Estrogen and Thyroid levels checked and the Gyno said her testosterone was very low. She told her it is just growing old etc
so my wife went to a natural homeopathic doctor who put her on the Teststerone pellet and her well being and demeanor improved immediately

Sorry that happened to you. But she sounds like a bitch - so if her ex did cheat, it’s bc he was tired of her shite - but she could be lying as well
