He said among his last words to her were, "I'll see you in Heaven."

"We stayed by her until she took her last breath," Nick DeKlyen said. "It's in God's hands now."

Doctors removed Carrie DeKlyen's feeding and breathing tubes on Thursday, a day after she gave birth to her daughter Life Lynn DeKlyen. The mother chose to forgo chemotherapy to treat her brain cancer, since it would have meant ending her pregnancy.

Sad but that required incredible bravery.

Ok now I don't feel as much of an a-hole wondering about the choice of baby name

Not as bad as Colt Jasper or Cannon Reid as one poster here named his children.

I admire her choice but in choosing that she chose to leave all her kids motherless.
I know, go ahead and downvote.

God...
That poor husband. I hope he's got plenty of friends and family nearby.

The poor kid is going to have to spend the rest of her life explaining that she was named Life because, while in utero, her mother was dying of brain cancer. Nobody is going to enjoy telling or hearing that story.

With Glioblastoma, she would have died with or without chemotherapy. She decided to give the baby a chance.

I think this is the strongest power on earth is a mothers love for their child. I would not hesitate for a second to give my life for my child.

I didn't read the article, but many brain cancer patients are fricked sooner or later, treatment or no treatment.

Sounds like she was going soon anyway. Gotta admire her courage to leave them another sibling.

Did the article say she has other kids though?

I think most women would make the same choice she made. Baby was born at only 24 weeks...so she still has to fight to stay alive. Hopefully the baby continues to thrive.

Yes, in the very first line. This was her sixth.

Compare this woman to someone like Lena Dunham who wishes she could abort a baby just for the frick of it.

I wish the cancer chose more wisely.

I skimmed the article. Don't know how I missed that.

Says they are strong Christians....so even though it means leaving her other children motherless....you honestly couldn't have expected her to do anything else but keep the baby. But what a horrible thing for those other poor children (looked at saw the other 5 range from 2 to 18) to go through.
