Woman walking dogs mistaken for a deer, killed by hunter

Hunter mistakes woman walking her two labs for a deer - shoots her and kills her at 200 yards with a "high powered pistol." Big problem: Hunting illegally after sunset and on property where he wasn't authorized to hunt.

A hunter in western New York shot and killed a woman out walking her dogs Wednesday evening after mistaking her for a deer, officials said. Thomas Jadlowski, 34, believed he saw a deer in a field about 200 yards away from him when he shot Rosemary Billquist in the hip with a high-powered pistol. The 43-year-old woman was walking her two Labrador Retrievers in the field behind her home in Sherman. Rushing toward Billquist after hearing her scream, Jadlowski called 911 and applied pressure on her wound until paramedics arrived. Billquist was taken to the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Erie, Pa., where she was pronounced dead.

Dude completely disregarded all the rules for safety. Put his dumbass in jail and throw away the key.

This is why I don’t go trail run or ride my bike during deer season.
There’s a lot of hunters that do it the right way, in my area there are so many retards with minimal firearms awareness that’ll blow their load in their pants when they hear a stick break. I’d rather not get my head blown off by a retarded redneck.

Judging from how crazy he looks in that pic, I’m not so sure it was a mistake.

A trigger happy idiot. I have never mistaken a human for a deer, stingray for a flounder, or a snake for a frog. That guy has a room temp IQ.

You hear these types of stories every now and then but what the frick is wrong with these people? The first rule of hunting is never shoot unless you are 100% what you’re shooting. If it’s too dark to tell with absolute certainty you let it walk

Guy is an idiot but at 200 yards with a pistol? He may be the best shot in the world.

ALWAYS keep the gun pointed in a safe direction. ALWAYS keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot. ALWAYS keep the gun unloaded until ready to use. ALWAYS KNOW YOUR TARGET and what is beyond it. Whether you’re at the range or in the woods, if you’re going to shoot, you must know what lies beyond your target.

What's sad is he'll get what a drunk gets for killing someone while intoxicated behind the wheel- like 3-4 years or some bullshite. There is absolutely zero reason why a hunter should mistake a human for a deer. If your sight picture is that fricked up, there's no way you should be taking a shot.

I always have quality binoculars. I study the animal before I shoot. everyone should do this.

That diagram is horrible. The heart does not have the most room for error.

I'm not excusing this guys actions but sometimes the mind tricks you into seeing what it not there in low light conditions. There have been several cases where hunters have shot their best friends, father, bothers and kids because they thought they were deer.
This guy was an idiot shooting and something he could not positively identify, plus he was trespassing. He should go to jail for 20yrs at least.

And every single person was trigger happy and wrong to shoot.
