i think there is a reason she spends so much time in the mountains, trails alone.

Heather Anderson is one of the top, if not the top, thru hikers in the world. She has done some crazy stuff.

Looks like a fun chick!

There's someone with a YouTube channel called Homemade Wanderlust. She is an Auburn fan (I think) and hiked all 3 in 3 years and has several episodes for each trail online.
It is actually a pretty decent watch. The production quality rises big time with each trail.

Darn her for not bringing a razor along for her mid hike selfies.

Right. It's not like she's holding herself out as a beauty contestant.

Thru hiking is doing it without stopping.
Doesn’t look like she exactly thru hiked, she jumped around and did parts of each in different directions for some reason, maybe trying to get the best weather. She did a majority of the AT and then some of the CDT, then the whole PCT and back to the CDT, then finished the AT, and then back to the CDT to finish it. Weird schedule.

I'm not sure about the PCT and the continental divide trails but a good section of the AT is closed for winter. There have been many hikers who hiked from near Atlanta to Maine only to be denied access to the finish because that park is closed if there are winter conditions.
I imagine the CDT is even worse in certain parts of the Rockies.

Correction hard, very hard pass. She looks like something I would normally run from on a hiking trail.

Many of the CYTC attempts involve trail hopping due to weather.
In Heather's case, she started the AT NOBO early and it was a heavy snow year all through the southern states, by the time she got up north the snow was only worse. Since the clock was ticking and traversing 1000+ miles in snow is slow she bounced to the CDT going NOBO.
Snow levels were low this year on the CDT but early fire season closures forced her to bounce in northern NM to the PCT which she was able to hike NOBO with no obstacles.
Then she resumed the CDT SOBO to knock out MT/ID/WY during summer weather. Leaving CO and the last bit of northern NM for the fall, she jetted back to complete the AT.
A little anti-climactic finishing such an endeavor in Grants NM rather than the iconic Katahdin or an international border, but it still counts as a CYTC. Sometimes nature (high snow or fire) interrupts the best laid plans.
She has an elite resume in the hiking world, at one point holding the self supported FKT (fastest known time) for both the AT and PCT. Her origin story is pretty cool to, she was an overweight non athlete her entire life until deciding to hike the AT while in college. Pretty ballsy.
As for economics, she is sponsored by several gear companies so her costs are minimal. She also has written a book and does speaking engagements which provide a small income. She is not your typical millennial IG hoor trying to find herself on the trail while living off mommy and daddy's credit card.
One of the other guys to complete the CYTC is Cam Honan, aka Swami. He did something called the "12 Long Walks" in which he spent 18 months hiking long trails all over the US and Canada. A pretty interesting read for anyone intrigued by the subject. LINK

8,000 miles / 365 days = 21.92 miles per day. Frick!
I mean you would have to jog a lot of that, right? Frick.
A full marathon is 26 miles. Frick.
After looking at the article, she did it in 252 days. That's about 31.7 miles per day. God damn frick!
